All aboard the Mahi Mahi Iwatobi-Chan!

Who: Clementine and The Iwatobi Pirate Club
Where: On the Mahi Mahi Iwatobi-Chan

What: Clementine has just arrived via the Nav.
Warnings: I should hope not! Although she may talk about zombies.
Style: Prose, but I'll follow.
Status: Open to the crew only, sorry!

After getting approval to join their crew, Clementine is a bit nervous, but since some of the locals aren't being so friendly anymore, she finds herself packed up and ready to go. It isn't like she has much with her, but she has a small bag with her personal effects, few that there are. In her beautiful new dress that Kyouya got her, she headed for the Nav to join the ship.

When the Nav is ready, Clementine closes her eyes. There is the strangest sensation of being pulled off somewhere into the darkness, and when she feels the ground under her feet, swaying a little on the water, she finally opens her eyes.

[Hajime has been waiting impatiently at the Nav ever since she found out it was time for Clementine to arrive. She's wearing her fancy new pirate coat, though she's opted not to wear the wig that usually goes with it today. Nonetheless, the effect is still pretty comical, as she still hasn't bothered to hem the sleeves so that they fit properly.

When the Nav begins to glow, she lets out a whoop of excitement and rushes up close to it. Thus, seconds after Clementine materializes, Hajime has already grabbed her and scooped her up in a big bear hug.]

Aaaah, Clementiiiiiiiiiiine!! You're so little! Ha ha ha, tiny tiny Clementine! We're so glad you're here!!

[Needless to say, Clementine is pretty surprised to be hugged all of a sudden.]

Uwaaaah! [She squeals a bit and looks at Hajime.]

Um, hello. [Clem smiles.]

Welcome welcome! [Hajime swings her around a bit before finally returning her to the deck of the ship.] I'm so excited! We have a new crewmate, our ship is fixed, and we're gonna sail down to Stone Nest to see if we can find the shard! Aren't you excited?

[She stops dead in her tracks and freezes, then scuttles over to Clementine to whisper conspiratorially in her ear.]

Oh, but I don't think the cap'n's very excited.

Yeah, okay. [Clementine smiles and nods her head. The plans sound pretty good to her.]

Oh...how come?

[She keeps her voice to a whisper, but it's still probably loud enough for anyone on deck to hear.]

Iiii think he wanted to stay on the island and live there! He could've been King Cap'n Makoto of the Deserted Island! But! That's not good because we gotta be treasure hunters!

[Hajime turns and spreads her arms wide.] So it's back on the ship we go! What do you think of our boat? It's great, isn't it?

[Hajime is very lively, something Clementine just wasn't used to anymore. She smiled though and nodded.]

Yeah. It's nice.

One day I'm gonna paint it all sorts of colors! I've done some decorating inside, though! It's a bit of a mess right right now since all our treasure is shoved in there.

[She leads the way across the deck, occasionally pointing out some very obvious part of the ship like it's something amazing, like the sails, the the masts, the railings and so on. There are spots here and there where she's obviously been hard at work where random splashes of color decorate the wood and the occasional strange little decoration has been nailed on.]

It's kinda a work in progress!

Wow, it's really colourful!

[Clementine looks around with wide eyes. It's her first time on a ship, so she isn't terribly sure where to go, or what she's supposed to do but it is pretty amazing in itself.]

Thank you! I wanna make it as bright as I can! Now...hm... [Hajime taps her chin thoughtfully.] I think I'm just supposed to give you the tour and the cap'n and Rei can figure out jobs for you to do, so what do you wanna see first? Wanna walk around the deck some more and look at the ocean or do you wanna go inside and see the galley and where we sleep and all the treasure we got?

[Clementine looks like she's thinking.]

I wanna see the treasure!

Alrighty! Follow me! [Hajime leads Clementine beneath the deck of the ship into the crew's living quarters. Everything is decorated in Hajime's lively, eccentric style, but with an eye towards the individual tastes of each member of the crew. It's a bit cramped, but that's mostly due to several large boxes and chests filling up the floor. Hajime opens one up with no small amount of pride.]

We haven't stowed it all away yet because we're still figuring out what we'll need out of it. We found them on a spooooky wrecked ship! Isn't it great?

[The chest is full of wigs, some tacky novelty wigs, some the sort of fancy white wigs that you might expect to see in some period drama. Packed in around them are some plastic Halloween props, skulls, rats and the like.]

Harukitty found this box! Ah, but you should call him Haruka, just so you know. There's a box over there with clothes in it that I found and back over by my hammock are a ton of dresses and my cat figurine.

[Most people might have considered treasure to mean something else, but luckily Clementine was nine, and her eyes widen in amazement.]

Woow, that's a lot of treasure!

I know! Isn't it great?! [She scrambles over to the hammock with the highest concentration of garishly colored decorations surrounding it, clearly her own, and returns with a huge armload of dresses. She drops them on the floor in front of Clementine in an explosion of color and frills.]

These are the dresses we brought back. I picked them out for myself, but if you see something you like, I might be able to fix it up for you or we could find someone on an island somewhere that sews better.

[She smiles and nods a little, it is pretty amazing after all.]

That's a lot of dresses. I can really have one? [Her eyes light up. She just got a new one from Kyouya, but that's about it.]

More than one! They'll probably be a big on you, but you'll grow. Just don't grow as big as the cap'n or you'll need two dresses at once!

[Hajime giggles and starts sorting through the pile to see what she can find.]

I know you've talked to Cap'n Makoto already. He's just as nice in person. He's tall and big, but he's kind of scared of everything and he worries about everyone a the time. We all like him a lot. Harukitty--ah! he'll want you to call him Haruka-- is the cap'n's best friend since he was little. He's really quiet and he doesn't talk much, but he's a great artist! He loves the water, so I built him a tub to soak in so he won't jump in the ocean and scare the cap'n. He's probably there right now. Don't think he doesn't like you just because he doesn't talk to you much, that's just how he is. I'm probably the one that talks the most, well, me and Rei, but Rei talks to himself a lot. He's really smart and he tries to be serious about everything, but he's really kind of silly! He gets seasick a lot, too, so watch out for that.

[She pauses in her monologue and looks up because, yes, sometimes other people need to get a turn to talk.]

Okay!

[Clementine nods before listening attentively to everything Hajime is telling her. It's a lot of information all at once really.]

So the Captain is Ma-ko-to. [Clementine sounded it out, nodding a bit.] I think I did talk to him. And there's Ha-ru-ka, his friend and Rei. Okay. I think I've got it.

[She smiles, then looks thoughtful.]

Um, am I going to get seasick?

Hmmmm. [Hajime considers this.] Do you get carsick or sick on rides at amusement parks? If not, you're probably okay! It's the same kinda thing. The boat moves all the time and it throws off your inner ear and it makes your stomach all woogly.

[Clementine has to think about it. She hasn't been on an amusement ride in a very long time.]

Well...I didn't get carsick in the trailer or the train. So I guess I'll be okay!

Great! No problem, then! So do you see any dresses you like? I pulled out some of the smaller ones, so if you like any of those, maybe you can try them on later and well see what we can do with them.

[Hajime pats a small collection of dresses that she's set aside from the bigger pile.]

[She smiles and nods.]

That sounds good.

[Clementine leaned over and poked through the dresses, they looked a little fancy in fact. She paused, looking at a pastel blue one.]

I like this one.

Ooh, that one's pretty! [Hajime holds it up and considers it.] Yeah, it's probably a bit big for you, but we could pull it in in the back with a bow...take the material out of the hem...yup! Totally doable! Just need to get a better sewing kit to make it prettier. Do you know how to sew, Clementine?

[Clementine looks at Hajime and watches in amazement as she looks over the garment.]

Wow, you know a lot about clothes.

[At her question, she shakes her head.]

I never did that before. Is it hard?

Depends on how fancy you get with it! I can really just do basic stuff by hand, like fixing tears and sewing on buttons. If I had a sewing machine, I could sew things together, but that's really it. I can't make clothes or toys or anything.

Do you wanna learn? Sewing is actually really important on a ship!

Yeah! Okay!

[Clementine smiles, Hajime's personality is really infectious.]

It is? What do you sew on a ship?

Let's seeee... Sometimes sails get torn and you have to fix them, and if your clothes or your hammock get ripped, you can't just go buy new ones since you have to sail all the way to an island. Stuff like that!

That's a lot of things. [Clementine says thoughtfully as she nods.]

Lee couldn't sew so when I got a hole in my tights we just had to leave them. They didn't look very good after awhile.

Hmmm, yeah, that happens to tights a lot. I get holes and runs in the ones I wear to school all the time. I wanted to just sew patches on 'em, but school rules and all that.

Do you hafta wear a uniform at your school? I guess since you're in elementary school you probably don't, huh?

Your school didn't let you? How come?

[Clementine blinks at the thought.]

No, we didn't have any uniforms. I don't know if you get one later. I was in first grade.

Uniform rules can get super strict! They tell you how long your skirt has to be and what color socks and tights you can wear and what you can do with your hair and stuff like that. I guess I understand why they do it, but it's not much fun. I get to wear a different color scarf each year, but that's the only way it changes.

[She waves the floppy arms of her coat.] I wouldn't be able to wear my super cool pirate coat at all!

That's really stupid. You should get to wear whatever you want!

[Clementine nods decisively, as though this is the truth of the world.]

[Hajime laughs!] Clementine is very American!

[She's been delighted by the way they all can inexplicably communicate with each other since she got here. It's the best magic out of all the magic in this place.]

If we're ever too Japanese for you, let us know!

[She blinks and scratches her head.]

Well...how would I know? I don't know anything about Japanese people. I didn't know any before.

Well, now you know lots! If you ever look at us think we're doing something weird, just say something! Of course, sometimes we're just weird anyway! [She wonders how it sounds to others when they talk. Do they notice how different they all sound from each other? She's noticed that no one has ever commented on her speech pattern and she talks to people over the journals a lot.]

Well...okay! Maybe you can just teach me your weird things then. Since we have to stay together.

[She smiles at Hajime. She doesn't know much about any of that, she hasn't given it any thought. If they weren't speaking English, she honestly didn't know.]

Oh, we're all gonna teach you lots of things! It's going to be so much fun! Like having a little sister!

[As an only child, this is really exciting for Hajime!]

That sounds okay. I didn't have any brothers or sisters before!

Me neither! Harukitty and I are both only children! Rei has a big brother and the cap'n has a little brother and sister, so they're lucky.

You think so? I didn't think about having a little brother or sister. I asked mom once but she said no. I don't know why though, she should have just gone to get one. I would have been nice to it!

Sometimes it just doesn't work out. [Hajime nods sagely.] That's when you gotta just make your own family!
