This time Rose wasn't taking any chances. She spent all of Thursday on the ship in order to avoid the effects of the pollen, but she was not one to be confined when there was land nearby. So on Friday, she ventured into town and purchased a thing called a gas mask, which was supposed to block out the pollen. The thing looked ridiculous but as long as it kept her sane throughout the night, she really didn't care how it made her look. Unfortunately for her, the mask she bought was tampered with.

It was well before sundown and she already had the mask on. She didn't want to risk losing track of time and be caught without it on when the flowers bloomed again. She ignored the odd looks she got as she walked the streets of town.
