It's a question he's been sitting on for a while. He knew she kept them around but how is it in that head of hers? He wishes he could find out without her knowing, because he has a feeling she'd really hand his ass to him if he tried and she found out.

Ah well. The best he can do is ask and seem genuine. It seems to have a good track record with her.
