Luke let out a yelp; whatever that thing was, it was big and scary and oh dear god there was more fire coming their way. Jade needed to cast to keep the flames down; he was useless while he was casting, and besides, last he knew Jade still had that damn fon slot seal he was dealing with. He scrambled up to his feet, throwing himself in front of Jade, holding his sword at an awkward attempt at defense.

"G-Guardian!" he exclaimed, the magic shield barely surrounding him in time, but it wasn't a perfect defense like Tear's spells. He still got scorched, and Luke winced painfully as fire trailed along his arms.
