There's a ruby, or gem of some sort, that evidently has the power to get us home if you wish on it. Or some such rubbish. Only it's been smashed into a million pieces and we're to find them all, it's powerless unless it's whole.
[Gives an absent wave of his hand.]
It was all in some poem back in that town. On the fountain. Rebuild the gem and whatever you wish will be. Whether wealth, good fortune, or even the chance to flee. Something like that.
[Looks thoughtful.]
Then...some other line, words, words, words, strangers take care or be lost forever to Davy Jones' lair. I believe that's how it ended.
