Finnian should have been more curious towards the guys attitude, but he was rather clueless to notice the exact signs, nor did he have the knowledge to notice different attitudes, so when he heard a faint ring to metal, he hadn't been sure what exactly it could have been.

There were many different possibilities after all. So when he felt the sting of a wound on his side, he had glanced towards where the pain had come from. When he did he realized that he was just attacked and if there was one thing he knew he was suppose to do at home and that was to protect.
