Gaius wasn't about to take his chances with that. One hit and he'd either be flung really far out to sea or break a lot of bones, and neither option seemed very appealing. He tucked into a roll as soon as he realized that Finnian was just going to keep swinging, and he didn't come out of it until he was well at the other side of the deck, just out of range.
He frowned as he watched the boy, thrusting his blade back into its sheath. Crude tactic, but effective, he decided. He'd just have to come back to it, or let someone else handle Strongarms. Besides, things seemed to be getting shiny out there on the beach.
So long as Finnian kept moving, maybe he'd think he'd hit the thief if Gaius slipped away. The thief jumped up onto the railing again, and then after a quick glance below, dropped on down, grasping hold of the rope to one of the life boats. Barring any interruptions, he'd make way for the beach to see how Mana and Alice were handling their fight.
((OOC: Hope you don't mind, and that it wasn't so abrupt? I wanted to try making this work out into Mana and Alice's fight thread up there since I'd had Gaius slip in when I thought I wasn't going to get tags on this end. -although thank you for hopping in. :D))
