Well, it's true. I'm a thief, there's no going around that one. And I did get blackmailed into some nasty business with nobles back home, figure they would've used anyone with their hands already dirtied, just so they wouldn't have to get directly involved. Not sure how much Maribelle told you about that, but basically it was either her or her father, and I figured it wasn't fair for them to mix up his daughter into things. I didn't know what good it would do otherwise, but I wrote a letter about what happened, once my sentence was lifted. Found out later from Maribelle that it had actually saved her father from being killed for a crime he'd never committed.
