[Fire was all about control. Control of the the breath and control of the self. It was the first element Wan had mastered. When his emotions were at their most turbulent, he looked to the fire within to control himself and stay calm. If he didn't, he would become a danger to himself and all around him.
Though Leo couldn't know it, the fact that any fire was escaping Wan was a bad sign of how twisted up inside he was. There shouldn't have been any fire coming out at all. He was fighting himself to maintain peace and it was not an easy battle.
Wan repeated his mantra - Focus on the light. On the fire inside - over and over a dozen times or more before the flickers of candle flame and smoke stopped coming. It took him far too long to calm himself. And though it did come, he couldn't quite get back to the point of opening his chakras.
Which only served to frustrate him. But at least there wasn't a physical reaction by the elements around him.
He groaned as he finally slumped, depressed and giving up for the moment.]
How long did it take you the first time you tried?
