[Was it what Whitebeard wanted?]

[Aye... and no.]

Pops would want us all to be free and go our own way. That's why I'm taking Ace sailing the stars. Until he's satiated enough he never wants for anything else. [And Ace was a demanding kind of guy, so that would be forever, as far as Marco knew, but if anyone had the time for that, it was Marco.]

Back in our world... I might take you up on that fight. Someday. But it'll be on my own terms, no one else's.

[That was really what pissed Marco off. He was almost completely surrounded in checks. Not in this world. Here he was usually so free he could everything and anything he wanted, and there didn't seem to be any dead-ends, so he never had to stop flying except to briefly rest. But in the New World, in the New Era that wasn't Whitebeard's, that was without Ace and Thatch, where Blackbeard had the darkness and earthquake devil fruits. Back there what choices did he have?]

Right now it's just enough for me to survive. If I had my way, that wouldn't be a priority. That wouldn't have been my priority in Marineford either.

But we're not the same style of captains. You sound more like Shanks or Roger like that, but I'd rather be one like my Pops. [If at all. Marco wasn't willing to disband them though. It wouldn't keep the crew safe, it would definitely endanger the islands, and no. He was going to punch back hard against every god damn rookie and Blackbeard, and Kaidou, and anyone else foolish enough to think he was only strong from his father. They didn't realize that Whitebeard's strength was his family. His family were damned strong even without him.] My selfishness would be to kill Blackbeard. But he is not our only foe and my brothers need me for more than just him.

Whatever the new era holds, I don't expect to like it. But --

[Marco, Mars, god of war. It all comes back to him again and makes him want to curl up into a ball of a phoenix in Robin or Thatch's laps.]

[He didn't believe in fate, not like Blackbeard did, not at all.]

[But it was too much of a stretch to dismiss it utterly as well.]

But I can't say yet what the future will hold. What I want is to be here now with all my brothers. I won't waste it.
