First Annual Alcyone Turkey Trot

Who: The Crew of the Alcyone
Where: On the broship
When: November 24-30
What: The Alcyone gets a very special visitor (and lots of grub!). Certain curious crew members have decided to check "it" out.
Warnings: Animal cruelty and maybe violence.
Style: Up to you!
Status: Closed to crew members!

[Wherever you are on the ship, whatever you're in the middle of, you're about to be interrupted by loud squalling coming from the topside. It's a cry of terror--no wait, hold that thought! That other sound? Definitely a cry of outrage and murderous intent!]

[A large turkey strut-sprints across the deck, wings low, neck fluffed, and feathers fanned out menacingly behind it. Boy is that one mad bird! But that's not all. Overflowing near the ship's wheel is a large something-or-other and the source of some really fantastic smells. Hey, is that a cranberry?]

[Children would always be children and, while Piers had his questions about the sudden appeareance of the strange fowl that Asbel was playing with, he wasn't about to interfere. Not while there was no danger...and Asbel's antics seemed harmless enough. What little boy doesn't want to fight a strange beast?

...Admittedly, he had been so focused on the navigation that he hadn't given either bird or boy his full attention. He started at the warning, looked up at Asbel with confusion in his amber eyes.]

What are you--

[Too late.

The bird collided with his legs, and knocked both tools and Adept into the deck.]

[Piers just smiled sheepishly up at the boy in hopes of reassuring him. It was simply Piers' own inattention, nothing more-- he didn't expect the bird to suddenly barrel over!]

I'm fine. No harm done.

[He sat up and flung his bandana out of his face so he could better study the bird.]

...

It's pretty big for a bird, isn't it?
