Of course. Balls and parties and the like were always enjoyable back home, I wouldn't miss this. The company is the highlight, obviously, but I heard there might be dancing.

[He's smiling as he speaks to her, but it fades a little as he glances around the dance floor.]

...Though, admittedly, this isn't quite what I'm used to.

Not much of a club dancer?

[She can't help but tease a little.]

What kind of dancing do you like?

[Arches an eyebrow.]

Club dancing? Is that what you call it? No, I'm partial to a much more...formal sort of dancing, I guess you could say. Though I suppose this music isn't too different from that of the Weird Sisters.

Formal dancin', huh? [Well. She smiles a little more, then.] So somethin' like the waltz is more your style?

I can waltz, but finding a partner who can follow along isn't always easy.

[Gives a long-suffering sigh.]

My mother taught me. [Glances back out at the dance floor.] She's not very fond of most modern music, seeing anything like this would probably give her heart palpitations. I had to stop her from writing a letter to the Headmaster when the band was announced for the Yule Ball in my fourth year. She claimed they were inappropriate.

[Rolls his eyes, then grins at Rogue again.]

What she doesn't know won't hurt her, though, right?

[Rogue can't help but laugh. Because, well. She knows that type of parent all too well.]

Hey, if she finds out... just blame the American. I'm cool with that.

She'd gladly do that anyway, most likely. But who knows, maybe as a teenager she wouldn't care as much. I've no idea what her taste in music was when she was my age.

[Pauses for a moment, making a slight face.]

Still weird that she is my age in this world. But anyway, enough about her. Have you had a good birthday?

[Rogue is happy to get off the subject of parents. Because the more they're talked about, the more likely she is to get asked questions she doesn't want to answer.]

Pretty good. Good company, good music, good food.

[Brushes some hair out of his eyes -- he really needs to trim it, being stuck in this world isn't an excuse to be lazy -- and then gives a slight little bow in her direction. The corner of his mouth tugs upwards as he looks at her.]
