Topsy Turvey
Who: Hazmats with special guest star Aokiji
Where: at sea, a Navy base in the west-southwest, then Turvey Top
When: seagoing Oct. 1-15 with a stop of about a day on the 9th to raid a Navy base, then Turvey Top from the 15th onward (tbd by October plots)
What: they need a new ship. They're going to steal one from the Navy and then take it to Turvey Top to get it refitted/hide out for a while. And deal with curses, plots, and witches. Also picking up a lost and lonely Kuzan at some point.
Warnings: not likely but let me know
Style: anything you want
Status: closed to whoever's under "Who"
The vacation was nice, but for a few days of Cynthia not remembering some of her friends, but it became clear by the end of it that Raphael wasn't coming back, at least not in the immediate future. They had to accept it and continue on, now without any of their turtle-pals who had brought them together as a crew in the first place.
Size of ship was not quite an issue, but the Hazardous Materials had gone through so many changes lately that there really was only one way for it. Gan Ning felt they needed a fresh start, and what better way than by procuring a new ship? They could christen it with a new name, though he didn't mind still being referred to as Hazmats in homage to the turtles who built the crew and were their friends. Besides, that was what the bounty posters called them, no sense in confusing that. A few casual inquiries around Aquatica Paradise uncovered the presence of Navy bases on small islands in this part of the world. But of course, what with that rumor of the frigate passing through on the current soon...
They set course for the base to do some real piracy. After that, though, they would have to see what island would come up on the escape heading. They could hide out there to refit the ship, make it their own. Little did they know they had found an island with a witch who was rumored to bless or curse even visitors...

There are moments when he seems to vanish completely, just a vague black mist. The two he's been charged with taking down haven't yet noticed the commotion, thankfully, but with all the noise, Gaius isn't going to hold his breath for it.
A sharp ring of metal and one of the two goes down, the remaining soldier about to shout, save that he's startled by the appearance of whatever creature's assaulted them. An opening provided and not one wasted. Gaius moves again, practically passing through the soldier in order to get around him, he easily dodges a panicky attack and it's not several seconds later that the other man is down.]

Call out and you're dead. Now, you're comin' with us.
[when the others catch up, he hustles his captive up the embarking ramp to the ship, using him as a human shield. There's bound to be more resistance up top, particularly if any Navy men are bunking on the ship instead of the base.]
When we get up to the deck, fan out. This guy'll only protect us for so long.
[and then he plans on throwing him overboard.]

He gets ready, mentally running through his options for when they get up there. Eh. Improvising works too.]

Throw down your weapons and hit the water, this ship is ours now!
[Gan Ning barks out the order to give them one chance to surrender. They won't. He hustles his hostage right into the thick of the rest of the Navy men, who still hesitate but definitely don't drop a single pistol or cutlass. So be it! He uses his leverage to shove the hapless captive into a pack of his fellows, freeing his hands so he can light into them and start swinging his blade around.
Every last man on the ship needs to go down, or get thrown overboard. There's maybe twenty at most, not all of whom are on deck at the moment.]

He hops back a step to give himself room and charges in. This man he's encountered is pretty good at parrying with him, and Roxas would enjoy the chance to play a little longer except someone takes a shot at him which means he doesn't have time. He does a little quick step to get behind the man and whacks him in the back with the keyblade. A bit unfortunate, actually, he feels a slight twinge of guilt. He probably won't die, though that had to hurt.]

He flips a few overboard who end up trying to charge him, and if he sees that the rest are being handled by the captain and Roxas, Gaius will look to slip below deck and see if there's any more surprises.]

He's surprisingly calm, it's a lot more of a routine mission in his mind and he hasn't triggered his anger at all which makes him somewhat less ruthless. Still efficient though. He keeps Gan Ning in mind so he doesn't collide with him.]
no subject
Oops. Sorry, didn't you get the memo? You're all relieved of duty.
[For the brief moment of confusion that passes across their faces, the thief moves in quickly, dashing past them as he mutters a spell, and once he spins around to face their backs, lightning crackles and leaps between them.
Bodies and weapons fall to the floor, Gaius making sure they're down for the count before he moves on.]
no subject
That was quick. All right! Roxas, gimme a hand - we gotta toss everybody overboard and secure the ramp so no one else can get onboard.
no subject
Okay, I can do that.
[It's not even a question of should he do it, because orders are orders, he just hauls one of them bodily and tugs him to the railing. It's difficult because of the size difference, even though he's strong. He's going to end up a real mess after this. There's a reason that black was so much more functional in situations like these.]

After making a thorough check of each level, he begins to make his way back to the main deck after he's tied up some of the men he's dispatched. When he emerges he's dragging a couple from the first group he'd run into.]
Got about ten more below. Pretty sure I found 'em all.
no subject
When Gaius re-emerges, Ning straightens up to give him a grin]
Damn, nice work. Nice. If they ain't dead, probably can just toss 'em onto the pier. So long as they don't get free and get to the base to warn 'em.
Once we clear the ship of Navy, we gotta quick figure out the rigging and rudder, and then back her away so Ariel can get at the other ships from underwater. We'll pull'er around closer to the Booyakasha to help with the loadin'.
...oh, and toss off anything we don't need.
[like these bodies, and their fancy Navy clothes]

People are so messy. Heartless just disappear.
[He's panting but continues on his third body. He lets out a surprised gasp when the man starts pleading with him and he stares wide-eyed. He isn't sure what to do. He's incapacitated, but he's also on the ship and dropping him into the water isn't going to be good for him. He's also the enemy. Is he supposed to kill him?
He summons Oblivion and holds it to the man but hesitates.]
What do I do? He's alive.
no subject
[Much as Gaius has been involved in a war back home, he still doesn't like killing people.
These people may ultimately be after them and treat them as the enemy, but it doesn't sit right with him to kill a guy who's genuinely scared.
Leaning up the two he'd shocked and dragged from below against the railing and steps over towards Roxas and the guy he's found still breathing.
Getting some rope, he moves to bind the guy's hands and feet up.]
You sit tight and keep quiet then, huh?
[He'll gag him before he leaves him on the docks with whoever else might still be stirring.
Glancing at Roxas, he nods the kid towards the others, signaling that he'll handle this.]
no subject
Well, no, if the idiot begged like a mewling baby like that, he'd have to. Ah well. This is why Gaius is his first mate. Leaving the trussed-up captives on the dock is good.]
Good work, both o' ya. Fastest commandeering I ever pulled off.
no subject
Thanks, I think.
[He can't recall anyone ever commenting on his skills before, aside from a succeed/fail rating. With a grunt he hauls him up over his shoulder and then over the railing.]
no subject
Went nice and smooth. Hopefully the others haven't run into any problems either.
no subject
I trust 'em. We gotta, for all this to go smoothly. As long as they do their jobs, we've done ours, and we'll all meet in the middle with a nice, new ship.
This one's a beauty, at least. A bit heavy, but that's probably all the guns.
no subject
How do you know a ship is heavy? Isn't it always?
no subject
[Gaius leans against the railing. Going up and down from the hold while dragging a body or two isn't fun at all. He pulls out a sucker from his stash, popping it into his mouth.
He'll let 'Ning explain that one to Roxas.]
no subject
I'm sure once I get my hand on the wheel I'll be able to feel it, how much wind and current it takes to move 'er, stuff like that. She's still lighter than that big one over there [thumbs to the empty galleon nearby, dark and quiet in the middle of the night] on account o' size.
[he starts moving as he talks, verifying that the rigging is more or less the same as the Booyakasha, and then ducking around to find the wheelhouse. Yep. Should be a breeze to sail this ship]
no subject
Does it matter how heavy it is? Is it going to sink then? Heavy things sink, I think.
[Wow, something from Ikki's physics lesson actually stuck.]
How do you feel it?
[Roxas will just follow Gan Ning around to ask his questions because he's curious.]
no subject
Think that's something that just comes with experience, Duckling.
[He's going to go around and get a better look around deck now that they're not dealing with soldiers.]
