Topsy Turvey
Who: Hazmats with special guest star Aokiji
Where: at sea, a Navy base in the west-southwest, then Turvey Top
When: seagoing Oct. 1-15 with a stop of about a day on the 9th to raid a Navy base, then Turvey Top from the 15th onward (tbd by October plots)
What: they need a new ship. They're going to steal one from the Navy and then take it to Turvey Top to get it refitted/hide out for a while. And deal with curses, plots, and witches. Also picking up a lost and lonely Kuzan at some point.
Warnings: not likely but let me know
Style: anything you want
Status: closed to whoever's under "Who"
The vacation was nice, but for a few days of Cynthia not remembering some of her friends, but it became clear by the end of it that Raphael wasn't coming back, at least not in the immediate future. They had to accept it and continue on, now without any of their turtle-pals who had brought them together as a crew in the first place.
Size of ship was not quite an issue, but the Hazardous Materials had gone through so many changes lately that there really was only one way for it. Gan Ning felt they needed a fresh start, and what better way than by procuring a new ship? They could christen it with a new name, though he didn't mind still being referred to as Hazmats in homage to the turtles who built the crew and were their friends. Besides, that was what the bounty posters called them, no sense in confusing that. A few casual inquiries around Aquatica Paradise uncovered the presence of Navy bases on small islands in this part of the world. But of course, what with that rumor of the frigate passing through on the current soon...
They set course for the base to do some real piracy. After that, though, they would have to see what island would come up on the escape heading. They could hide out there to refit the ship, make it their own. Little did they know they had found an island with a witch who was rumored to bless or curse even visitors...

A
Moderately]
Something like that.
[the bike he'd been riding, ice naturally, he'd converted into the floe. So technically he supposed he was still riding the bike even if that equated to drifting aimlessly at sea and slowly succumbing to dehydration]
I suppose... I could use a lift...

We're bound for a place called Turvey Top, so if that ain't a problem, we can get ya there. Hang on.
[it takes a moment's fiddling around with the rigging to find some unused rope or...hey, a rescue ladder! Good Navy, always being prepared. Wiser than pirates. He secures it and tosses it over, though it falls just shy of the water for most people.]
Haul your ass on up, I ain't gonna hang around all day.

The man's charitable offer aside, being rescued from drowning by someone who may become your enemy should certain things shift wasn't particularly wise-- if the man realized he was drowning anyway.
So... Aokiji creates a small rope of ice, attaching it to the side of the ship so that he can haul himself closer and climb aboard. The rope ladder is a little narrow for him, but he manages. Then comes to stand on deck, towering over the bebelled man.]
I appreciate it.
I'll pay my way... oh, but... I'm not very useful... And out of money.
[and not looking forward to going back to Turvey Top but drowners couldn't be choosers]

I dunno about that, you might be useful after all. As long as you don't mind owin' a bit to pirates.
Name's Gan Xingba, I'm captain of this hunk of junk.

Kuzan.
[the name choice was easy enough considering Aokiji bore no weight here and he wasn't here in any official capacity. Not that he had an official capacity, but, never mind.]
You seem more pirate than most that end up here. [the flag for one. the pride for another. The self naming for a third] Home profession?

About a day. Needs a new paint job, don'tcha think?

After that it's your choice. You wanna stay on with us, or not, either way.

[since debt is not something he prefers to have. They are pirates. And, he believes, more piratical than most who've been swept up, so he's under no obligation. But this man was under no obligation to save him either and had. At leas that Kuzan could pay back]
What do you need?

[he has to think, turning an eye to the sky while he does]
I saw you usin' some kind of sorcery, with ice. Can you stock up a storage room we can use for an icebox?

Is there food available?
[he knew there wasn't a chair his size and he didn't have the wherewithal to make one so he sat on the deck and regarded the belled man] I won't ask for much.
[he scratched the back of his neck] Ah, but I'd like a lot. And sake, too, if you have it.

[he's not sharing his wine, though. There's only so much right now]
I'll see if the former owners of the ship left any booze on board.
