high_seas | Intro Log: April 2015

WELCOME NEW CHARACTERS!
Have an intro log for the month of April!

Who: Any and all new characters, as well as anyone hanging out on or around Isla Empieza!
Where: Near the fountain in the town center.
When: New characters will arrive around April 9th! The log is good for as long as you need it.
What: You've just been dropped on your head in a weird new world. Time to figure out what the heck is going on!
Status: VERY OPEN.

Spring has arrived in Empieza! The days are cool and occasional thunderstorms growl through the night. If the citizens of Empieza seem more anxious than usual, it's because of the pirates that aggressively roam the streets, hunting for fresh meat -- either for shanghaiing or sport. If you don't wish to be coerced to sail under the flag of Ammon the Bloody, it's best to stay out of their way.

Feel free to throw your characters here if you need a place for them to get situated and start figuring things out! Start new threads, tag into others, meet the people who might just become part of your crew! Older characters will be in and out, too, depending who is on the island at the current time.

[that's right, Ven, he's looking right at you. Hands on hips, three swords at his right side.]

What's the matter? Forget where you were going?

[Does no one else here only carry one weapon??]

I, ah... [He looks out at the ocean, behind him again, and then back at Zoro.] I'm... not sure where I'm going, actually. I barely know where I am.

[But let's backtrack.]

...Did you say Roxas just now?

Yeah. That's your name, isn't it?

[So casual about it. Haha don't worry Ven, he doesn't know where he is either.]

[???

Ven's just staring like this guy's the strangest thing he's ever seen. No offense.]

I, uh, talked to Roxas in the journal earlier -- but my name's Ventus.

[Headtilt]

Are you a friend of his?

[whoa. No way. Zoro blinks at that, brow furrowing]

Really? Weird. You guys could be twins.

...eh, acquaintance more than friends. We've fought together, and against each other.

[Ven tilts his head again, eyebrow rising. Surely "twins" is exaggerating, right...?]

Oh -- so were you brought here, too? By the ghost guy he mentioned?

Yeah. [oh right he's already been introduced. Manners.] Zoro. I'm with the Straw Hat crew.

You're new, then. Just showed up?

[He nods.] Yeah, I woke up in town just a little bit ago.

[He looks thoughtful for a moment. Hope you don't mind 20 Questions, new acquaintance.]

Roxas mentioned a crew, too. Are there a lot of them here?

[well, he's got nothing better to do besides drink, so eh. He folds his arms over his chest and tips his head curiously.]

A lot? Eh...a few. Outsiders like us, we're down to maybe six or seven crews that I've heard about lately. There's native pirates, though. Lots of 'em.

So there are natives. [He was starting to think everyone in this world might have been brought in.]

So, those pirates -- are they a lot of trouble?

[Just going from experience...]

Depends. [slightly trolly grin] If you don't like trouble, you might not appreciate it. I don't consider it too bad.

Well... I can handle myself just fine, but the pirates I met before were kind of... [hmmm...] They were pretty greedy, and they hurt people. If they're all like that, it must be pretty crazy around here.

Most pirates are, but not all. If I was that kind of pirate, I would have drawn my swords on you, not wandered over for a chat.

[sage nod.]

It takes a few seconds to hit home, but then Ven starts slightly.]

You mean you're one?

[He's not one to judge by appearances, either, s o ...]

[that makes Zoro smirk, maybe even chuckle under his breath]

That's what I said. [implied, whatever] Though, it doesn't really make a difference what you are back home. Here, the Navy considers all of us outsiders pirates, so you might as well roll with it.

Seriously? [Wow. People with more pride than Ven might take offense as a pupil of one of the True Keyblade Masters being labeled a simple pirate, but that's not his case. He's more confused than offended.] Even if we don't do anything wrong? Why would they do that?

Yep. [shrug] Dunno. It's just their policy, I guess. Hasn't changed as long as I've been here, which is more than a year.

Well, that stinks. [And is totally unfair to boot.] So... avoid the Navy and the native pirates. Got it. Is that all there is to it?

Well. That's the basics. You probably wanna hook up with a crew, though, to get off this island. There ain't much here.

[he glances toward the town. Sure, it looks nice, and there's some good bars, but he's never felt the need to hang around]

[Ven follows the look, crossing his arms.]

Yeah, they don't seem too... friendly, either. [He thought it was just him at first, but if everyone is seen as a pirate, then that makes more sense.

So he gives a nod of finality and smiles, arms dropping again. Let no one ever say he's not confident.] Right! I'm supposed to meet that Roxas guy here -- I guess I can ask about his crew. [He seemed friendly enough and all. Why not?]

Thanks for the advice, Zoro. I owe you.

Nah, don't worry about it. [besides, he thought the guy was Roxas at first anyway...] Don't suppose you fight with the same kind of weapon he does?

[Ven stiffens at that, glancing aside briefly in a way that can probably only look suspicious. For the first time, he wonders just how much Roxas has said about it.]

...The Keyblade? Yeah, I'm a wielder.

[kind of hard not to notice when you fight against them. Zoro grins in satisfaction]

Good. Maybe we'll have to cross blades sometime. Roxas was pretty tough with 'em.

[Another blink, but then Ven smiles, and with confidence. Apparently sparring is the way to make friends in this world. Who knew?]

Yeah, sure! I don't use two like he does, but I'm no pushover.

[That's putting it lightly, but hey, Ven's modest.]

I'll look forward to it.

[oho, that's a challenge he'll take]

Good luck finding him. I gotta see where the rest of my crew went.
