Intro Log: April 2015

WELCOME NEW CHARACTERS!
Have an intro log for the month of April!

Who: Any and all new characters, as well as anyone hanging out on or around Isla Empieza!
Where: Near the fountain in the town center.
When: New characters will arrive around April 9th! The log is good for as long as you need it.
What: You've just been dropped on your head in a weird new world. Time to figure out what the heck is going on!
Status: VERY OPEN.

Spring has arrived in Empieza! The days are cool and occasional thunderstorms growl through the night. If the citizens of Empieza seem more anxious than usual, it's because of the pirates that aggressively roam the streets, hunting for fresh meat -- either for shanghaiing or sport. If you don't wish to be coerced to sail under the flag of Ammon the Bloody, it's best to stay out of their way.

Feel free to throw your characters here if you need a place for them to get situated and start figuring things out! Start new threads, tag into others, meet the people who might just become part of your crew! Older characters will be in and out, too, depending who is on the island at the current time.

[Roxas let out a frustrated groan.]

I know that. He's that good! That's why he's the one who matters. I'd... I'd let him sleep forever.

[No, he wouldn't.]

I just want...it's not fair, it's not. I hate it. [That, he does mean.]

I didn't ask for this. I just...want Roxas not to disappear.

[He shivers.]

I hate sleeping. That...is scary to me. Disappearing and being forgotten.

[As Ven said, he can't fully understand what Roxas is going through; he can tell it's a sensitive enough topic that he doesn't want to sound superficial, so... he just addresses the one aspect he can sympathize with.]

You know... if we're being totally honest, the idea of sleeping kind of scares me, too. [He manages a smile, although it's sad.] I was asleep for so long... maybe it sounds dumb, but I couldn't sleep at all last night. I was afraid of not waking up on my own.

[Maybe he'll get over it quickly, maybe he won't... Either way--]

But I'm not going to worry too much in the meantime. I've waited too long to have this chance. So... [His smile gains some cheer as he looks to Roxas again.] ...I'd like to enjoy what I have now. And if it's okay, I'd like to get to know you better, Roxas.

Maybe together, we can figure something out. We're both connected to Sora, so... that means you and me are connected to each other. I think you feel it, too.

[His eyes go wide with surprise and he nods.]

Me too! It's hard to sleep sometimes. One time I fell asleep for twenty-five days and it scares me I won't wake up again. I used to have trouble and then Lea would sleep with me. Lea's my best friend, but he went home and since then...

[Since then, he's been afraid. There's another beat and a different, sort of bewildered expression.]

You want to get to know me?

[He nods at that, he can feel something strange, illogical as it is, but Ventus gets a bright smile in return.]

I'd like that.

[Ven pockets his hands with a soft laugh.] My best friends used to do the same for me, when I was little. [Ven, you're still little. All the same, it's seeming like he and Roxas have a lot more in common than just their faces.

He returns the nod, though, and mirrors the smile literally.]

Sure! I think we could both use another friend, you know? [You can never have too many friends] I could probably learn a lot from you, too.

[Since y'know you seem to have been awake during all the time that he... wasn't...]

My best friend is awesome.

[Because Lea is the best, clearly, and everyone should know that. He nods though, it's another reason he misses Lea so badly.]

I like making new friends! [All the friends, that's what he wants.]

I don't know if I can help you with any of that really, but uh, I can try.

Well, you have two Keyblades, right? I could probably learn something from you there.

[Even if Ven can't use two directly, he still has his Wingblade style, which lets him use six, in a sense.

Yeah, Roxas, don't get jealous if that ever comes up.]

Yeah I have two keyblades, but I'm not sure what you can learn from them. I don't know all that much about them. I just got new keychains when I came to see you. Check it out!

[He grins and summons very easily Bond of Flame and Two Becomes One.

He would get very jealous if he knew that.]

[After a day of twists and turns and mysteries, Keyblades are a familiar and welcome subject. Ven leans over with his hands on his knees, observing the weapons with interest -- but still keeping a reflexively respectful distance.]

Heh, nice! Maybe I should look into one when I get the chance. [He knows how keychains work, but he didn't really stop to fiddle with them too much in the past. As curious as he is about, well, everything, he didn't always have the time to look into anything that came up.]

And you really just... have them? No one passed them on to you?

[Interestingly enough Bond of Flame has a second keychain, a pocketwatch attached to it.]

No one passed them onto me, I don't think. Whatever that means. I just appeared and I had them already. Or the one anyway. Two of them is newer but I've had them a long time now.

Huh... well, however it works, you're pretty lucky! I've never heard of anything like it. But I haven't met a whole lot of wielders, so maybe others can do it, too.

I don't know, I've met lots now.

[Roxas hums and thinks about it.]

Sora, Riku, Kairi and Lea, but Lea's not very good at it. I'm the only one with two keyblades though!

[Oh, right. Lea.]

That reminds me -- I talked to Marco before. He's your dad, right? He mentioned that Lea had a Keyblade.

[And now Ven just looks puzzled.]

Did Lea... ever say how he got it? Or when?

[Roxas nods.]

He picked me to be his son, yep!

[He winces a little and looks away, scratching his head.]

That's...I only know a little about it. Lea and I didn't talk about it because he got his heart back and I didn't...I can't and he didn't want to rub it in, I think. He was a Nobody too but when he got his heart back, he was able to summon the keyblade. Only not very well, he can only summon it sometimes, but he can hold mine.

Hmm...

[Man, this is a freaky line of coincidences.]

I... think I actually know Lea. I met him, at least. In a world called Radiant Garden. But he wasn't a wielder then.

[Judging by Ven's expression, he's having a difficult time coming to terms with that picture.]

Lea's older than me, I think he was in the Organization ten years or something.

[Ah, right, the time difference thing.]

So... you said the Organization is made up of more Nobodies. And that Lea was a Nobody before. [Yes good he's keeping up with all this.] But I... don't know if he was one by the time I met him. Besides, I can't even really tell how you're different from a Somebody.

[Hearts? No hearts? Somehow he would have pictured a heartless person to be... well, not like Roxas.

But after a moment his arms drop.]

Oh, well. I guess it doesn't really matter for now. But if he ever comes back, I'd like to meet him again!

[THEN all the questions will happen.]

[Roxas tilts his head a little.]

Was he walking around in a black coat, or something really weird and some kind of orange-yellow thing he likes? All Organization members wear a uniform that's all black. Also, Axel had tattoos on his cheeks.

[He thinks about that.]

I'm a weird case we think. I have feelings..some of them. So maybe I can get by a little better than most. But it's easy enough.

[Roxas attempts to take Ventus' hand and he moves to press it against his chest. No heartbeat.]

Lea is the best! He is my best friend and we did all kinds of really fun stuff here!

[It's not immediately noticeable, but Ven does quickly get the gist of what's implied -- and frowns, because yeah... no heartbeat. Odd.]

A black coat? [He shakes his head.] No, he dressed... normal, I guess. No tattoos, either.

[And another sigh.]

This is pretty confusing... but it must've been a long time since I saw him. That makes sense, I guess. Sora's a lot older than the last time I saw him, too.

[Orrrr maybe we should move away from the Sora topic for a bit.

He glances towards the town.]

So you came here with your crew, right? Are you staying long?

[Roxas doesn't know anything and the timeline is just as confusing to him as it is to Ventus. He sighs softly at Sora but nods a bit. Maybe.]

I came with my crew, the Hazmats yeah. I'm not sure if we're going to be here long, they don't usually tell me that stuff. Just when to get back on the ship or whatever. It's fun to sail all the time, but I love water! Just getting to look out at it all the time is great.

[Roxas looks at him curiously.]

What are you going to do? You have to leave the island. The locals don't like us much.

[Ven looks thoughtful at that, scratching his chin absently.]

Yeah, I heard about that. Marco offered to let me join his crew -- but now I'm kinda curious where you're heading. You used to be on his ship, right?

[Something like that??]

Marco did?

[Roxas is confused by that, but then again Marco can't possibly know that Ventus looks just like him.]

The Spades are great. I did used to sail with them, but now I sail with a different crew. I'm still one of them though, I have my tattoo. [He touches the back of his neck.]

I'm not sure where we're headed. I didn't ask.

[Well, the guy did suggest that recruiting Ven might tempt Roxas over -- and as for whether he meant it or not... Ven's not sure, but he won't take offense either way.

But it does make him curious as to why they're split up in the first place. Not because he's nosy, but because intel does seem to be a big necessity here.]

Did... something happen? I didn't know you could just jump crews like that.

[Marco does like to tempt Roxas over as often as he can. Roxas just nods though, something did happen.]

Lea had a fight with Marco. They didn't agree on some important stuff and he...he needed to leave and I love him, he's my best friend and I can't lose him so I left with him. I love Marco too, but it's different.

Lea and I have made promises. I have to protect him.

[It's complicated to him, completely too complicated.]

It was my choice to leave, even if I didn't want to and...yeah, it was a mess. I was really upset and I missed everyone there.

[Ah, yeah, he did mention that too...

...it's starting to sound like one big family matter, and Ven's both respectful and hesitant enough not to just jump into the middle of that.]

Oh. Well... I'm sure things'll work out. Fights happen, even between friends -- and family. But you'll get through it, trust me.

[Yeaahh let's swing back around to the more neutral subject.]

But, um... I'm not sure what I'll do. I forgot to ask Marco where he was, so... [So for now, at least, he could stick with Roxas if possible -- not just to hitch a ride, though. Ven meant it when he proposed being friends, and he'd like to get to know him.] ...does your ship have room for one more?

I'm okay with everyone now...I think.

[He isn't sure, but that's alright. Lea's gone home, some of the friction is gone.]

Yeah, we've got lots of room! You can come with me if you want! I can find out where Marco is if you want to go to him though. It's pretty easy.
