Intro Log: April 2015
Have an intro log for the month of April!
Who: Any and all new characters, as well as anyone hanging out on or around Isla Empieza!
Where: Near the fountain in the town center.
When: New characters will arrive around April 9th! The log is good for as long as you need it.
What: You've just been dropped on your head in a weird new world. Time to figure out what the heck is going on!
Status: VERY OPEN.
Spring has arrived in Empieza! The days are cool and occasional thunderstorms growl through the night. If the citizens of Empieza seem more anxious than usual, it's because of the pirates that aggressively roam the streets, hunting for fresh meat -- either for shanghaiing or sport. If you don't wish to be coerced to sail under the flag of Ammon the Bloody, it's best to stay out of their way.
Feel free to throw your characters here if you need a place for them to get situated and start figuring things out! Start new threads, tag into others, meet the people who might just become part of your crew! Older characters will be in and out, too, depending who is on the island at the current time.
HAVE FUN! And welcome to High Seas!

I turned up this afternoon. 'World'? [That's-- maybe he means something else. Though it's totally true her log pose isn't doing much of anything, so she knows this isn't the Grand Line at least, but--] This sort of thing happens often?

[Time gets a little confusing for him because he was here, and then he went home for two years, and then he came back, so all in all it feels like it's been forever since he first turned up in this place.]
Shit, I dunno, nearly two years? Eh, maybe less, eighteen months or so. Davy fuckin' Jones himself pulls people here.
[Rolls his eyes a little, because it sounds kinda ridiculous, but that doesn't mean it isn't true.]
no subject
You've been here that long? [Without her? How is that possible? She won't deny it, because Sanji wouldn't lie about it, least of all to her, but--]
... gimme a sec. [I am GETTING ANOTHER DRINK. She'll even get Sanji one, too.] I think I'm gonna need it.
no subject
[BEAMS.]
I can pay, though! I got money on me. I'm supposed to be restocking -- Luffy's holding a summit or something soon, I said I'd cook for it.
[Gives a slight eye roll as he takes a sip of his drink, only because he has no idea how that's gonna go. Luffy seems to think a 'pirate summit' is just another way of saying 'pirate party'... Oi. But he knows better than to doubt their captain by now!]
Anyway, turns out this was not where Kuma sent me. [Scowls a little, grumbling out a quick asshole before continuing.] I've been home for a couple years since, but then I ended up back here again.
no subject
Instead, she narrows her eyes.] You came here all the way back when? You never said anything.
[Because lol, magical memory loss, what is that.]
no subject
Didn't remember.
[Stubs out his current cigarette and digs out a new one to light up, taking a long drag before meeting Nami's eyes again.]
Apparently that's a shitty thing. You go home, you don't remember what happened here. Made it really damn confusing when I came back.
[For several reasons, one in particular that has him taking a sharp inhale suddenly. He reaches for his drink again to drown the cough trying to work its way out of his throat.
...That's, uh. That's news for another time.
Later.
Much later.]

So you've been stuck here forever. [She hates the idea. It doesn't sit right. Sanji might be annoying at times, but-- and it doesn't just go for him.] How do we get home? This ruby?
--and we're not the only ones from home, I notice. There's Whitebeard pirates around.
[And Shiki.]
no subject
Which is why it's so good to see you again!! Forever is right. Forever's a pain in the ass. [Hmph.] There's others here, yeah, but Nami-san's absence was a shitty hole in my heart that couldn't be filled~!
[:D ♥ :D]
Ace was here, too. [Speaking of Whitebeard.] And at the time, Luffy was... He hadn't been through all that yet, same as me. [He gives Nami a more level look at that, arching an eyebrow slightly. You can imagine how well Luffy took it when he found out what happened.] Other than them, Robin-chan's here! Keimi-chan, too. And Zoro. Brook was here for awhile, but not anymore.
But yeah, seems like putting the shitty jewel back together is the only way people know of to get home. We've tried looking for other answers, but it ain't easy getting good info around here. We've only managed to find a few shards of that thing, too.
no subject
[Softening a little as she puts together the situation Ace and Luffy must have found themselves in. And they're still missing half their crew. She's not sure whether it's good or not that they miss out on this, but they shouldn't be separated.]
Yeah, I notice the locals don't like to talk about it. So it's not all in one piece, then? How many shards d'you think there are?
[...]
How valuable do you think it is?
[LOOK I HAVE TO ASK.]
no subject
As for the shards...
[Falls silent for a moment, thinking, as he takes another sip of his drink.]
Hard to say. Everyone wants 'em. We're not the only people on the seas in this world, they got their own pirates who are after it. Plus the Navy. Hell, anyone could be hoarding a piece. You tell people they can wish for whatever they want, and suddenly everyone wants their shot at it. [Grins a little.] So I guess I'd say its value is pretty damn high.
no subject
My kind of ruby. [We'll get it. If we have to steal every piece back from anywhere which way.] It's our only chance to get home, right? Unless we can get to Davy Jones himself.
[...who is a ghost.
Personally she'll take the treasure hunt. Surprise.]
How tough's the navy here?
no subject
[Not battling him on an island full of living nightmares like they did last time would probably be a start!
Sanji's brow furrows a little at that next question, a small frown on his face.]
They weren't tough at all for a long time... More a fuckin' nuisance than anything. But they got this shit now -- kinda like seastone, I guess? It's called something else, though. Annuler. Only problem is it works on anyone it touches, and it's starting to get around. We got hit by some asshole pirates a few weeks back who had a shitload of it.
[Rolls his left shoulder back without seeming to realize he's doing so. It's where he got shot by the stuff, and thinking of how it pretty much incapacitated them is annoying.]
no subject
They shot you?
no subject
Ah...yeah. [Scowls.] The shitty swordsman and I got handcuffed by the stuff, didn't even see the bullet coming. That's what they started out with before it became more widespread -- collars and handcuffs. Now they got guns and probably swords. Pain in the ass... Wouldn't mind turning it on 'em, we'd just have to get our hands on a stash of it.
no subject
They've only just started using it? You have any idea where it came from?
no subject
Nah, I mean...they had it the first time I was here. Months and months ago. Just not a lot of it, I think? Seemed like it was kinda new, and it was just the Navy here and there. If that last attack is anything to go by, though, it's suddenly multiplied like hell. And somehow those pirates got in on it. We haven't learned much else about it yet.
[He shakes his head and drains the remainder of his drink, then swivels in his seat so that he's facing Nami and grins at her.]
Anyway, there's a lot we'll have to catch you up on, but we don't gotta do it all right now! You wanna see the ship? Or maybe you're hungry -- I could take Nami-san out for a romantic dinner~!
no subject
And she makes a mental note to follow up on that shit later if she's stuck here long enough, but Nami's eyes light up with a combination of relief and interest. But no romance, alas, sorry, Sanji :c]
I've heard you've got a new ship! [She tosses her own drink back, pushing the glass back across the bar.] You can give me a tour. I can get something to eat there, right?
[Honestly, romance aside, she'd far prefer his cooking over anything else in this place]
no subject
[Arches an eyebrow at her before sliding off the stool and holding his arm out for her to take.]
Whose kitchen do you think it is? Anything you want, I'll make~
no subject
[She takes his arm for a few moments, at least long enough to slide off her stool and head for the door. Despite her general irritation, she's definitely interested in seeing a new ship.]
