[With the adventure at Manila behind them, Piers is glad to land for once. While he tried his best to hide it from the rest of the crew, he was tired from the slew of offensive spells that he hurled at the moths to keep them at bay.

That was one island they weren't going back to.

They, as a crew, needed to regroup. He personally hoped that he could meet some of the voices that he had heard through he networks. But, above all, he wanted a good night's sleep in a bed.

Inns always solved everything.]

[While Jade is busy looking for supplies, he may see a small boy suddenly dash past him, running as fast as he can down the street. A man further up the streets, dressed in a pink red wine suit and a cravat, is running towards him, yelling at the top of his voice.] Stop, thief!

[Looks like someone got pickpocketed.]

[Well, what have we here?

Although Jade's duties don't technically extend to outside Malkuth, law-enforcing had become something of a habit. The boy doesn't make it far before finding himself caught by the shoulder in a vice-like grip.]

That's not very nice of you, young man. Return what you stole, or I will be forced to arrest you.

[A bluff, since he has no authority here, but the uniform tends to do the trick.]

No, we won't. It's why I plan to keep sailing, even if we don't know our course.

[It was the sea, and it felt almost like he was exploring the oceans back in his home. He simply couldn't let the opportunity pass by.

[The boy tries to wriggle out of Jade's grip.] "Ahhhh lemme go! I will give it back, promise!"

[Edgeworth meanwhile, stops, crosses his arms and gives a stern look at the boy.] I should hope so.

That's more like it. [The sudden smile is so out of place it's almost more frightening than anger.] Just apologize to the nice man, and we'll forget this ever happened. ♥

[Jade firmly steers the boy back towards Edgeworth before letting go, though he's ready to catch him again should he try to run.]

[Asbel grimmaces at the mention of the word "clean". He figured the sea water and the rain would take care of that plenty, but Hubert seems to have other ideas.]

Oh, right... Well, I guess we could look for something a little more scaled back. [He points at Hubert, grinning slightly because good grief his little brother's a genius. He just doesn't need to know Asbel thinks so.] Or maybe we should ask around for help; get people to join our crew.

[The boy cannot tell which one is more freaky - the guy with the creepy smile or the guy with the stupid frills and the frightening glare.] "S-sure....s-sorry, Mr. Frilly-pants! Now will ya both let me go?"

[Edgeworth tries very hard not to react to the 'Frilly-pants' comment. It's a struggle.]

There we go! I'm glad to see a satisfactory end for both sides.

[And because he doesn't fully trust the child to keep his word, he deftly snatches the stolen wallet away.] Off you go, then!

"Hey!" [And the child jumps up to get the wallet back. When this is not a success, he sticks his tongue out at both men and dashes off.]

Hmph. What an incredibly rude child.

In a town like this, I doubt manners are high on the list of things children care about.

[He hands over the wallet.] I suggest keeping a close eye on your belongings while you're here.

Hmph. Well, it's certainly an unusual town. [Yep. STILL trying to deny that he's in another world. :/ This whole pirate thing. There will be a logical explanation for his situation. SOMEHOW.

And he takes the wallet in his hand graciously.] I thank you for that.

I'm guessing you are one of the new arrivals.

[Jade has long since accepted how ridiculous this all is... though he hasn't given up on a scientifically sound explanation.]

Well, I did wake up here a few days ago. I understand that this is a common occurrence?

As far as I know, this is the second wave of arrivals. Whether there will be more remains to be seen.

[They're definitely going to need a bigger crew (although Hubert thinks it's more likely that they'd have to join someone else's group, as opposed to others jumping on board with two kids). But they haven't found Father yet (or Richard and Sophie for that matter), and so far most of the people he's seen on this island strangely don't seem inclined to help two lost children. Still, Hubert turns his gaze around the harbor, evaluating each person in sight for potential trustworthiness and helpfulness. Finally, he points out his choice:]

H-how about we ask that guy?

[The guy in question is a muscled-looking man with long blue hair and a headdress. Unlike many of the other denizens of Isla Empieza, he seems quite relaxed and not wary at all. He might be less likely to turn them away.]

[Turning, Asbel follows the line of Hubert's finger towards the man in question. He seems all right, not that Asbel's a reliable judge of character or anything.]

Him? The one with the blue hair?

[He glances back at Hubert over his shoulder to make sure. Knowing his little brother's not about to volunteer to go first, Asbel scratches the side of his head for a moment and then strides forward as if he visits this harbor every day, smiling widely.]

Hey, Mister...! Excuse me, but do you think you could help us out with something?

[The young man's question, asked with all of the bright confidence of someone who felt like they already knew the answer, drew a smile from the sailor when their eyes met. Piers, clearly distracted by his current goal, set his bag of fresh supplies aside. Although he had been warned by various parties time and again about his own giving habits, there were some parts that would take a long time to erase.

It was a child who asked him. There were so few in Lemuria that children felt like a novel concept to him. He simply couldn't help himself.]

I can try. [His crew could argue with him later on this count.] What do you need help with?

Hubert ➛ Asbel ➛ Piers tagging order, to be broken as needed

[Hubert, of course, is never far behind his brother if he can help it. He speaks up from just over Asbel's shoulder:]

Um...

[Man, where to even start.]

Wh-where can we find a crew?

[Because it would be rude to just ask this guy upfront to join them, right?]

Heh. [And in a blink of an eye, Jade was smiling brightly again.]

I don't intend to leave the Alcyone either for some time. Do you think you can indulge this old man's moods a little longer?

[A smile in return, although there was a look in his eyes that made it clear that Piers had yet another thing that he wouldn't explain.]

Indulging you and your whims has been a trying experience, I will admit. But, the conversations in the books show me few other options.

...and none of these have a drive quite like you, nor do they have quite the same respect for my work.

I'll gladly keep indulging you, even if that means we earn the anger of more islands.
