[It's like being back in that orphanage he was in before Mitsumasa Kido found them and took them. Back in winter, when the cold invaded the dormitory and his brother climbed into his bed seeking for warmth because Ikki was always warm no matter how cold it was. Though back then Shun climbed into his bed pretty often, too used to sleeping close to him from their time in the streets. Except that Ace isn't Shun, and even if he was, it has been too long since he slept with someone, he doesn't want to share his bed.

There's an incongruent noise and Ikki revolves, trying to shake him off.]

[Sportscasters everywhere would gasp at the result. As Ikki rolled, Ace rolled in a perfect counter. They spun like gears against each other until Ace landed a second time, arms latched around Ikki as if to hold him still.

Ace's instinct to annoy transcended consciousness.]

[Ikki growls again, louder this time and moves to push him again. His voice isn't very clear, but it's loud enough to be heard.]

God dammit, go to Marco, you got the wrong phoenix brother!

[hiken]

Rggghhh! [Ace couldn't argue while not fully conscious, but he was getting there. His eyes unlaced a bit into slits and he saw a heated blur, which was now trying to move him out of the warmth.]

Stay still, I'm tryin' to sleep!

Yes, in my bed! Go sleep with Marco!

[Seriously, why his bed.]

[hiken]

Your room was close.

[To where he was last thrown out. Ace gripped the sheets and huffed.]

...Why're you bein' so weird about it?

[uccellodifuoco]

[Ikki growls and brings his hand to his face. His body tenses as if he's going to make another attempt to throw Ace out of his bed, but at the end all that happens is a soft murmur in his voice.]

Brings back memories I don't want to think about.

[A life he considered lost ages ago.]

Why can't you sleep alone?

[In the middle of Ikki's sad sort of statement, Ace's face hit the floor as he tilted halfway out of the bed. He was already fast asleep again, breathing hoarsely against the floor boards.

In reality, he was too tired to anything else.]

[He finds himself laughing before he even realizes it and when he does he stops, feeling weird. He considers pushing the rest of Ace's body out of the bed. Or even leaving himself and look for another place to sleep. He considers it for a long moment before he sits up and starts to shift around.

He drags Ace's body back up into the bed so he uses a pillow properly instead of the floor. Then he turned his back to his captain, keeping the other's hands away from him and went back to sleep. He will share a bed but no cuddling, thanks.]
