Not really. I'm just checking the ship out.

[Or was. Still, in spite of the cold air, a hand goes on her hip]

You're one of the crew members, aren't you? I'm Asami.

You say that as if you aren't a member yourself, what, are you just a visitor?

[They don't actually get many of those.]

Phoenix Ikki.

No, I guess I would be considered one now. [...] I'm a friend of Korra's, she brought me here.

[She holds a hand out to shake, probably a habit she picked up along the way somewhere]

It's nice to meet you, Phoenix.

[Ikki blinks at the hand but shakes it firmly anyway, formalities like those will never sit well with him. Though at least it's not bowing, he hates that even more despite being Japanese.]

It seems this was the month of lost friends to come to this world, I think all the new additions to the crew knew someone here from before.

[Not everyone has gotten back a friend, though, including Ikki but he prefers it that way. It would be weird if any Saint appeared in this world.]

If you're going to stay with us, know that the captain seems to hate to sleep alone. If one night you find him sneaking into your bed with you don't worry, he just wants to sleep there with company. For the record, leaving him the bed and going somewhere else won't help.

[The warning comes mostly because she's a girl, if it was a guy he wouldn't even bother.]

Also, the painted turkey that roams around isn't food. Unless we're out of supplies and starving without any choice to get more supplies.

[Then it's lucky Ikki isn't considerably older, because she would have bowed then]

Could they have planned this the whole time?

[Whoever 'they' is. She's not even sure there is a 'they'. She quirks a brow at the next part, though Ace was already a funny one to her, so]

Right. I'll keep that in mind, thanks. He...does that every night?

Painted turkey...[Asami says that like it's a type of breed] Is it someone's pet?

Who knows what they are planning at all. Besides having us playing pirates.

[Ikki sighs heavily and shakes his head.]

At least you won't get bored in this ship.

[He chuckles.]

He doesn't always go to the same bed, at least. But yes, pretty much. And the turkey is the crew's pet.

[Okay, she smiles a little at that]

That's true. I can't say I've bored yet.

[In fact most of the people on the ship were entertaining. In a good way, of course]

I guess locking the door won't do much then then, huh? Does it have a name?

If you want your room to be doorless until someone repairs it, feel free to do so.

And I think the turkey's name is Mr. Caruncles, no idea where that came from.

[No, she doesn't want that]

I'll keep that in mind too.

Right. Don't worry, I'll leave him be. [A pause, because she was curious] How long have yo been here?

[Ikki thinks for a moment.]

Close to a hundred of days. From the beginning, if you can call it that, it doesn't seem there was anyone else taken from other worlds before we arrived at least.

[That...was almost half a year. Asami tries not to frown, but it doesn't seem to go over well. Korra mentioned she was also here for a while too]

And there's no rhyme or reason as to who gets to go home?

So far no, if there was I wouldn't be here yet. Our only clue for a specific leave is supposed to be that gem we have to gather, but even that is unsure.

I've heard. It's the only chance we have. [Yeah...] But even you say it's not a sure thing...

There are way too many things we don't know. And our only source of answers is as useless as asking you those things, heck you have more chances of giving a good answer that Dog.

[He gives a frustrated sigh at that.]

Dog? You mean a talking one?

[She really shouldn't be questioning this BUT]

The name they gave is Scurvy Dog. I doubt it's a literal dog, but who knows. They aren't very useful in answering questions anyway. They have a policy of only one question whenever they appear and... They don't discriminate intelligent questions from stupid ones. The first time they appeared someone asked if there was really a Candy Mountain, and so we lost our first chance to ask something.

[Well that just means she'll have to try to ask first next time. But before she does that she really has to know-]

This might be a lot to remember, but...you wouldn't happen to remember to important questions people have already asked, would you?

[He smirks at that and starts raising the fingers of a hand counting.]

Question: How do we get back home? Easy way. Answer: Dying.

Question: Which is the hard way to get back home? Answer: Get the gem and make a wish.

Question: Does the wish work for everyone or just for whoever makes it? Answer: No idea.

Question: Why does Davy Jones want us to gather the gem? Answer: No idea.

Question: Why am I back to live if I died days ago? Answer: No idea.

Question: What's the typical armament of a Navy ship? Answer: About 50 cannon, and the typical crew size is a hundred of men.

[Pause.]

That's all. With normally one question per week of being here, only those six questions, or five depending on how you see it, managed to be asked. I think it gives you a clear idea of what to expect and what the chances of important questions to be asked are. And the chances of those questions to get an actual answer.

[Hmmm. Well at least 3 out of 6 of those answers were somewhat useful. Unfortunately it didn't help them at all in regards to leaving]

So in other words we're left getting answers from someone who has zero interest in cooperating and actually helping us? Like some wild chase?

[That still didn't mean she wasn't going to try. She was basically a businesswoman by now, there was always a way to work around this. There had to be]

I don't like Dog, but I don't doubt its interest in cooperating. What I doubt is its knowledge or in what answers they are really allowed to answer. The answers they give to those questions aren't that good, but the information it gives about weather or where the Navy is tend to be useful and accurate at east.

But yes, it's definitively a wild goose chase.

[A pause.]

If you want to try to ask questions to Dog, be careful with what you say and how. We lost a question one week because a guy was "M-Monsters?!" when Dog talked about sea monsters being sighted somewhere.

Do you think he's under orders?

[That would make sense on why his answers were so vague to begin with]

And don't worry, I'll have it all planned out ahead of time. [Now she pauses] Thank you, you've been really helpful.

I'm pretty sure of that, what other explanation could there be for those answers? There's also the possibility that Dog may be more than one person, the last time it contacted us it used female pronouns for itself, but I could have swore that it was male before that.

[He shrugs.]

You're welcome. Just try to not get too frustrated if someone gets first and ruins your question chance.

Yeah if that's the case, I'm starting to doubt it's an actual dog. [Unless there was more than one talking dog for some reason...] But that makes sense. There are no clues as to who's on top I'm guessing?

It's fine. You said the Dog posts once a week? I'll have plenty of chances.

Davy Jones. That's all we have, but just knowing who it is doesn't tell us much.

[He looks amused.]

That seems the case, but it has been actually a couple of weeks since we heard of it. And that's nothing new.

[Considering she wasn't expecting even a name, that's good enough for her]

And by the sounds of it no one here has seen him yet. Sailing around would be another plus for that, maybe someone will get the chance to meet him one day.
