"I don't mind the city, but I wouldn't want to live in it. It gets expensive, and it's nice to be able to live with some peace and quiet after work." Aya shrugged softly. "Commuting to work is still possible."

"My parents thought it was some romantic idea to move to Sotoba. I only lived there a year before all of this happened. They were very very strange people."

He sounded a little uncertain actually. The hatred and the feeling of being trapped with them was faded and he wasn't sure how he was supposed to think of them now. He never took much time to think about it before.

"Yes, but that's the country. The suburbs are a bit different. It isn't as slow as the country, but not as fast as the city."

"I don't really know much about it, I suppose. I enjoy the city, I always have." He smiled just a little bit.

"The city is pretty alluring you those that don't go there often." Aya chuckles with a soft smile.

"I lived there most of my life. Sotoba was a new thing. I wouldn't live anywhere that remote again."

[formerabyssinian]

"It doesn't sound like there's flashing lights there, though, or game centers. But the suburbs doesn't have people coming home from bars and restaurants after they had too much to drink."

That wasn't the fun part to deal with.

He looked thoughtful. "I never really noticed, but I was fifteen when we moved out of the city so perhaps I would have. I can tell you there was absolutely nothing there. It was an absurd set up. If you missed the bus out to the school over an hour away it was an hour and a half wait. Fortunately Tohru got a learner's permit and he was doing some driving."

"Driving can be convenience in that sense. Not so much in a city." Aya crosses his arms, smiling softly. "I never understood how anyone could have a car in New York City with so much traffic and so little parking."

Better check for vampires!

"Well, I'm still not old enough to drive, so it hasn't crossed my mind much. Tohru was older than me. I did cycle to school from time to time when it wasn't so hot."

Natsuno was surprisingly athletic.

"Before I came here, I never left the country."

"That might not matter much, here." The real problem would be getting some sort of vehicle to drive. "You'll have a lot of firsts, here, for sure."

Have there been people dying or moving out en masse?

Natsuno laughed lightly. "That's probably true, I'm not that old after all. I can't have had much life experience at home, huh?"

"I don't think driving a car would do me much good here, but I'm almost confident I could manage a ship, sort of. I'd like to learn a bit more about navigation. As for adjusting the sails and everything, I'm getting the hang of it."

thankfully no! but let the snow clear first and then I'll let you know for sure...

Aya nodded, smiling softly. "You have a long way to go."

He did look curious at what Yuuki said. "Manage a ship, hmm? I'm sure someone here could help you learn more about navigation. Do you want to run your own crew, as well?"

As long as that doesn't happen, you're good.

Natsuno shook his head. "No, not at all, it's just useful information to know should people go missing or disappear or something. The more people who can manage things in a crisis the better."

That made Aya think about what he wanted to accomplish here. Did he want to learn a new skill to help out? He already has skills to use here, but mostly for land.

"I'm not sure if I have any inclination to learn something like that."

"I suppose it's up to you, but once I was more of a detriment to the group and I'd rather not put myself in that position again."

"True enough." He just thought learning more would want him to have his own crew, and he's not at that stage just yet. "There's still time to decide. I'll give it a few more months."

"I've been here a long time, so it's understandably where my head is at."

[formerabyssinian]

"Haven't we been here for the same amount of time?"

[reluctantjinrou]

Natsuno shrugged. "I have no idea, actually, how long you've been here. It feels like a long time though. For me, at least."

Aya counted on his fingers quietly. "About five months for me."

[reluctantjinrou]

"So it's about the same."

Natsuno leaned back on his hands. "Since last summer I've found time seems to go really slowly for me, unfortunately. Probably just a perception thing."
