Haytham would have felt better if he had been able to go with the group investigating the island, but he had opted to stay behind to keep an eye on the ships instead. It was the smartest decision to make even if he did dislike it's necessity. While he was no longer injured, healing magic was a surprisingly effective means of quick recovery, Haytham still felt a bit of weakness due to the blood loss no doubt. Even if he was some what annoyed at needing to stay behind at least it placed him in an excellent position. He could keep watch for whatever dangers the island, sea, or the Mistress's allies might be capable of.
Standing at the rail he scanned the island ahead of them watching as those of the expedition disappeared over the rise. In the afternoon the island had seemed fairly peaceful but now that night had fallen the growls and grunts of strange animals could be heard and if he used his unique gift they could be seen glowing brightly along the edges of the forests. A bright red in a sea of otherwise calm, marking them as hostile.
"Those creatures are keeping their distance from the shore but we should ready a few weapons in case they attempt to move closer."
