[She doesn't even wait for him to follow her after she says that. Cynthia just heads over to the door of the women's cabin (aka her personal bedroom) and opens it gently. Inside were her pokemon, in different corners of the room, all out of their pokeballs and sleeping on makeshift beds.]
They are the reason why I survived in that cave for so long. So I need to be assured that no matter what happens, they'll stay safe.

And they fight for you?

That one can summon meteors, earthquakes and fireballs. She can also fly but for some odd reason she can't fly from one island to another.
no subject
[he leans against the wall just outside the door, then] I'd say that's something. They're not helpless, so that means you aren't, either.

[She chuckles, then points to Milotic.]
That one can summon waves and blizzards. Also a very good deep sea diver since she's the one I take with me whenever I hunt down underwater caves.
no subject
Huh. Waves might be useful. That's incredible, I've never seen animals that can do sorcery.

[Then she points to Spiritomb, or rather, the rock holding Spiritomb.]
That rock carries a hundred and eight souls that were sealed away for causing too much mischief. At some point she was out to avenge the souls that made up her entire being. But now she just pulls pranks and freaks out strangers. She can also put people into a deep sleep and mentally torment them through their dreams. I'd show you a demo, but I'm pretty sure the guys wouldn't appreciate their dreams being invaded on my first day here.
no subject
[a lot like one, actually...]
Yeah, uh. Now that you mention it, I really don't want anybody tormenting me in my dreams, thanks. Appreciate that.

[She points to Gastrodon, then to Togekiss.]
Poisonous sludge bombs, thunder claps that could induce paralysis aaand...
[pointing to Lucario.]
...that one's my baby boy. He's very VERY good with hand to hand, or rather, hand to paw combat. Quick on his feet, and has the ability to read auras and use waves of psychic energy against someone.
no subject
[he's never heard of anything like this before. This is way better than just training tigers to attack people like the Nanman do.]
Remind me not to get on any of their bad sides.
no subject
[That was part joke and part threat. Cynthia wasn't the type to actually threaten people. But Gaius had told her that this man was an actual pirate. So she found it a bit hard to trust him]
no subject
[he steps back so that his noisy chatter doesn't wake the pokemon, folding his arms over his chest] See, now that you showed me that, I'm pretty sure you'll be just fine. No worries here.

Well gee, now I feel bad for even assuming you weren't someone to be trusted. Arceus, how stupid of me.
no subject
If you were an enemy, then no, you shouldn't trust me. But I don't turn my back on my allies, no matter who they are. I might be the only guy from Wu or all of the Han here, but allies are allies and I look out for 'em. On my honor.

[She takes a seat on one of the nearby crates and sighs. A little glad that it was still fairly dark, else he'd probably see that she was mentally kicking herself for having trust issues with a complete stranger]
I was also told about a guy who gave himself up to the navy so the rest of the crew could escape, and I highly doubt that was Gaius.
no subject
Yeah, that was me. Shoulda trusted they could handle themselves all right, but we were gettin' beaten bad. If we wanted the ship intact and nobody killed, something drastic had to be done. [more shrugging] 'S no big deal. But that meant they had to come back for me, and I'm still kinda kickin' myself for puttin' the kids in that position.

Guess there's just no room to be picky, when we're all in this mess together anyway.

Try to sleep, though. Bein' up all night is no fun, even when you're the one on watch.
no subject
no subject
You sure? Most people hate taking night watch, you really wanna?
