Oh yeah, it's not too hard. I know lots of tricks! You wanna try?

Hmm... Maybe after I watch you go around a bit more. What else can you do with it?

[Roxas says brightly, because he loves to play on his skateboard. He'll show you Gaius.

He sets it down again and gets on it, rolling around. His first trick: suddenly he jumps, the skateboard flipping underneath his feet.]

[Gaius will just lean against the mast here, arms folded as he watches. He'd figured it was mostly balance but doing something like that definitely commands a good understanding of the thing under your feet.]

Huh.

[He isn't finished and since Namur isn't here to scold him, he has no problem skateboarding to the railing and jumping up, sliding along the railing. He lands easily though. He follows it up with a jump on the board, twisting a couple of times and he grabs one end before landing.

Roxas always makes it look so easy.]

[He whistles lowly at the performance, grinning lopsidedly as he unfolds his arms to clap.]

Sweet.

[He giggles.]

It's a lot of fun!

The way you handle it, seems like you've been doing this a while.

Well yeah, maybe. Sort of. It was programmed into me before I came here and then I came here and that was awhile ago. Like, six months ago maybe?

[Is that right? Hmmm.]

[That gets a head-tilt, because what the heck does that mean.]

[Roxas could give you a convoluted mess of an explanation if you want Gaius.]

Cause of that, I get to skateboard and it's really fun.

[No thanks, he probably wouldn't understand half of it anyway, especially given the lack of technology in his world.]

I see... Well, so long as you can enjoy yourself. So from what I see, it's mostly just, what, keeping your balance and pushing yourself on that thing?

Yeah, you have to be careful to keep your balance and move around with the board. If you're not paying attention you can fall off.

Noted. I doubt I'll be able to do any of that fancy stuff you pulled a while ago, but maybe I can at least try staying on the thing from one end of the deck to the other.

[He grins and gets off the board, flipping it into his hand and he holds it out to him.]

That's the first step yeah!

[Gaius takes the board with a lopsided smile, looking it over before he sets it down in front of him. He sets one foot on it experimentally, rolling the board back and forth.]

Well, here goes. No laughing, all right?

I won't laugh! Promise!

[willwork4sugar]

[With a nod and a grin at the kid, Gaius looks back down at the board before he shifts his foot upon it. He gives a tentative push with the other, his arms wavering as he holds them out once he moves to set his foot on the board with the other.

He keeps his stance loose as the board rolls along, not nearly as fast as Roxas had gone about, but the thief isn't about to send himself careening down the deck any time soon. As the board feels like it begins to slow again, he moves to push a foot off the deck once more, although once he stands again on the board with both feet, he can tell that his balance is compromised, and trying to right it only causes the skateboard to curve in its path.

Gaius hops off after windmilling his arms in one last attempt, watching as the board rolls along without him before it comes to a stop.]

[He watches as Gaius gives it a good try, struggles and all.]

Hey! That was pretty good!

[Most people might have a hard time doing it, Roxas knows that. He's also easily impressed.]

[Glancing over at Roxas, he laughs a little as he goes to pick up the board. He walks back over to the boy to hold it back out.]

You think so? It really is a lot harder than it looks, especially once it's rolling.

Yeah, it takes a lot of practice, but still pretty good. Lea won't even try because he doesn't like my skateboard but it's the best present ever! A ghost ship brought it for me, isn't that cool?

Ghost ship..? Oh! The one that had all the gifts, last winter?

Yeah, that's right. I think it was winter. It was right after I came. It had it for me! Isn't that cool?

Kinda creepy how it knew what to give us, but hey, who can complain when you got something good, right? It gave the crew I was with a bunch of giant candy canes.
