[Seeing the drop from this perspective only reminds him of what he went through. It doesn't make him feel any better.

Down he and Toothless go, speeding up in their descent. They may even pass Wan at this point; being too close to the ground is a risk for flying and falling, but this is the only way he can maneuver the catch.]

Hold on...!

[At this stage, he steadies the flight path again, flying Toothless at the man.]

–Get him, bud!!

[Toothless grunts, sweeping sharply upwards at Hiccup's call, adjusting his tail and wings as they pull up abruptly from their dive. Once they come within range of Wan, he's going to carefully snatch the man up with his stubby claws so that they can carry him safely to land.]

[raavashing]

[Wan would be very grateful to know that Toothless was so careful with him. When he wakes up in a couple hours, safe and alive, he'll definitely try to thank the Dragon anyway he can.

...Hey. Wan??

[Concern is heard in Hiccup's voice as he hovers over Wan, not caring if the sand he walks through on his knees gets all over the place.]

You okay? Do you need anything? Water? Food??

[Toothless is nearby, peering anxiously at the man, glancing between him and Hiccup.]

[raavashing]

[Wan groggily wakes up to the sound of Hiccup's voice and manages to get sitting upright before he blinks blearily at the other man. It takes him a moment to realize that the last thing he remembered was falling out of the sky, but then he was a bundle of energy.]

Hiccup! Toothless! Are you okay? I didn't meant to make us fall! Neither of you are hurt are you?!

[summing_it_up]

[He sits back to give him more room, sighing in relief as he glances back at Toothless. A small smile toward the dragon and Wan's voice should cover the fact things are all right. Hiccup nods at Wan, then shakes his head. It gets a little confusing.]

Yeah, we– we're fine! Been fine! What about you? You were carrying the both of us, so that had to be hard on you.

[raavashing]

It was.

[And it shouldn't have been. But that wasn't something he seemed to be able to do anything about.]

But it's okay. Toothless got himself righted before it was a problem.

[Wan reached out to Toothless, looking to pet him again now that they were safe on the ground.]

Sorry about that. I'll remember to keep the chin scratching for when we aren't in the air.

[Toothless nudges Wan's hand, looking relieved to see that he's awake.]

[Not thinking about what could've gone wrong is what they needed to do, all right.]

Hey, we all make mistakes. I'm glad we all worked fast enough to keep that from happening.

[Wan took the okay from Toothless to scratch at his ridges again. He enjoyed petting other creatures like that and it was a difficult habit to break sometimes.]

Yeah. Mistakes.

[His voice and demeanor shifted briefly to one of melancholy before he shook it off and the smile returned.]

I think I'm going to have to walk back to the ship, though. Or just stay here for a while. You two will be fine with your flying, right?

[summing_it_up]

[Hiccup pets Toothless on the snout, nodding at Wan's decision.]

We'll be trying again, all right. Toothless is awake, so there's nothing to worry about.

...Still, if you need a lift, just say so.

[raavashing]

You could carry me?

[summing_it_up]

Yeah. There's enough room for one other person if they're not the pilot.

[raavashing]

I've never flown on a dragon's back before. Could I now?

[summing_it_up]

Sure! If you feel up to it.

[raavashing]

I'd love to! And I wouldn't have to walk back to the ship!

[summing_it_up]

Heh, that's always a good thing, right?

[A quick glance is given toward the dragon.]

Okay, Toothless. You don't mind Wan hitching a ride, do you?

[Well, that's a silly question. The dragon warbles, as much of a confirmation as any.]

[raavashing]

[Wan pushed himself up, wobbling a little because his legs were weaker than he thought. But he managed to get standing and started toward Toothless. Looking like a child who just got told he could have all the candy he could eat before candy mountain makes the child understand that candy is everything pain]

Where would I sit?

Oh, that's easy.

[Hiccup half-saunters up to Toothless, hopping up into the saddle. He then pats the part left open.]

You just sit behind me.

[raavashing]

[Wan mozied on up to Toothless' neck and very carefully swung a leg over. Once he was mostly on, he scooted foreward so he was pulled up to Hiccup's back. With nothing else obvious to hold onto, he put one arm around the other man's waist.]

This thing you ride on, that sits between you and his back. What's it called?

This? It's a saddle.

[He adjusts things, linking his peg foot into the pedal as he speaks.]

I made it out of leather, so it acts like extra padding. Which sort of helps when riding a dragon.

[raavashing]

[Wan nodded, not that he could be seen... but it might have been felt a little with their proximity.]

Never seen one before, but with his skin I can see it's usefulness. You wouldn't want to chafe his skin just because you were riding him.

Well, it'd be uncomfortable for either of us, but yeah!
