[He's a bit hesitant to take a seat for fear of having the ice cream melt all over his clothes, so he's just kind of looming.]

[ She looks down at her vanilla ice cream, topped with whipped cream and dipped in sprinkles for a bit. It was a hard thing to admit. But it is what it is. ]

[He wants to point out that it's no big deal, but that's not going to go over well and even he's not that much of a jerk.]
I wouldn't feel so bad about that. I mean, it sounds to me like there wasn't much you could have done. You could be the smartest person in the world and it isn't gonna do you a fat lot of good if the riddle isn't up to snuff.

I could understand having a hard time with people or islands. But stars have always been my thing, Lea.

[He points up, even though they're not there to see at the moment.]
I mean, look at them all you want, but you're not gonna be able to pick out the constellations unless you've been looking at them all your life. I still can't remember all the ones from back home and I know those stories. I mean, some of 'em...

I wanted that shard so badly. Even if it was just a small piece, I wanted to prove to myself that I could do so much more for the crew than just watch over the kids and gather information.

[This is not in any way an understatement, especially lately.]
I'm pretty much a freeloader otherwise, so you've got me beat at least.

[Which was something she needed to talk to him about. A pause to make a mental note of that before she goes back to eating ice cream.]
I guess I just feel the need to prove my worth because I tell people I'm a champion back home and yet...well...[She motions to the side of her body where her stab wound was.]

[He shrugs, then just gives up and sits down. If she wants to be useful, maybe she can add laundry to her list of duties.]
And don't get so hung up on back home. Don't get me started on that one.
[Other people with similar issues are the reasons he's here after all.]

I guess I'm just not used to having less responsibilities. As champion, I used to take care of everything back home. But here...having free time is just so weird.
and I'd never ditch this crew. They're my family.

[He takes the spoon and just sort of looks at it. Family...it's getting to be so long since he had one of those that it's starting to become an alien concept.]
Guess that might not be too bad.

I've been a member for around two three months now, and the boys have proven that they'd take a stab for me, take care of me when I'm ill and cheer me up when I'm down. Like the brothers I never had.
[ She smiles fondly ]

[Lea taps at his knee with the spoon, still not eating anything. It's true that he already feels like less of an outsider here than he did with the Spades, despite there being people on that crew that he knew from home.]
Well, the plan is to stick around, so I guess your little family has a black sheep now.

No accounting for taste, I guess.

Can't you just be happy that more people care about you now? That and the fact that you have a sister who's got your back no matter what stupid thing you do.

[Lea waves his arms, trying to fend off the candy.]
Look at my happy face! Stop throwing things!
[He's not exactly smiling, but he's definitely blushing. He's never known how to deal with people being nice to him and it's kind of embarrassing.]
