Who: Spades & anyone who hops over
Where: The quickly ruining ashes of what once was a naval base + at sea with the Spades, Luffy, and anyone coming back with Logan and Rogue // AKA: THE SUN, THE MOON, AND THE STARS!
What: Coldly angry Marco lets all the navy men go free and makes sure they have enough supplies to sail with, but makes it clear he's burning the base down into the shape of a spade "to send a message"
Warnings: UH VIOLENCE? JUSTICE LECTURES? At least he's not feeling too bloody and murderous, but maybe that's worse, oops.

See also this post and remember that Marco's usual reasons for holding in check (ie: Thatch, Nico Robin, Namur, Roxas) are gone or, in Marco's opinion more reasons to cut loose. Feel free to smack him upside the head, he won't retaliate.

It can take some getting used to, but it's always worth it.

And I say that as a phoenix, which I can safely now add means I'd normally be a very solitary creature otherwise.

As much as my Pops is still important to me, I wouldn't be me without my brothers.

[Rogue smiles a little, leaning against the rail. The sea was calm enough for her bowl of half-eaten chowder to set on the rail.]

I'm not used t' havin' much of a family.

It was just me an' Irene for most of my life.

[He nods quietly.]

This was still a vacation from the war for me. I guess we brought it with us.

[That's a strange thought.]

[In both cases he hadn't declared the war or started it, but he'd vowed to finish it.]

[And it reminds him painfully of the idea of what it means to be "Marco" the phoenix, a representative of the god of war all over again.]

My little brother Ikki, the other phoenix... he said there's a god of war, Mars, or Ares. I don't suppose you've heard of him or much about phoenixes, have you?

[He looks out at his own Spade handiwork.] Not that I have sympathy for those who'd help slavers. [Closes his eyes.] All my compassion is from my father, and even he would be terribly angry.

Then again... my father wanted to leave us peace, but his vacancy just brought us more war. Maybe that's the way of all worlds.

Irene? Not a big sister, I take it. [Since she mentioned only recently having her brother after all.]

If she threw you into the wilds or through and over mountaintops, you should probably tell Ace. You could bond with him. That's how his grandfather tried to raise him into being a strong robust marine.

[It's purely deadpan, and given the words, relatively dark! But he still meant it to lighten the mood more or less or cheer her up.]

[He nods quietly. It matched what he heard from Ikki anyway. But he still didn't know what to do with it.]

[Maybe he's just being paranoid, but then, he's still too paranoid to chalk it all up to coincidence.]

Flying into the sun is a new one. Sounds like fun though, I'll have to remember that sometime and convince Chandra and Ace to let me try it.

Apocalypse is a person, right? Not a weapon, or a war?

[She has to think about it. The spade-shaped rubble smolders, and she keeps her eyes on that. She tries, very hard, to keep her tone even, but it doesn't work.

There's anger there. Pain and fear.]

He was a mutant. I don't know what he is.

The Eye of Ages is a weapon, and it runs off his power.

[A pause. Her shoulders falter then pull up straight.]

He lived within it, trapped for five thousand years.

Now, he's trapped again, but he has the powers of some of the most powerful mutants of my world.

Strong telepathy, telekinesis, the ability to create energy, the ability to control flames, the ability to phase through solid objects, the ability to teleport, the ability to alter reality.

An' others.

[All of which she'd delivered to him.]

I don' know what he is, now.

[Rogue smiles a little. It's good enough, and it seems like an indication to go for another topic.]

Sounds like a great grandpa.

Mmm. I liked it. [he doesn't really know what Marco is asking] It's mine now. I'm gonna protect it.

[cuz your old man can't anymore.]

[he saw them come back though he was with Ace at the time. Now he's chomping on a fairly large leg of meat, tearing it off with his teeth. He crouches on the railing not far from her and peers at her]

[chews] You're Logan's friend, right?

[She smiles a little. Not a lot, she's not overly demonstrative or friendly, but the expression is there, and it's sincere.]

Yeah. I am. M' name's Rogue.

Nice to meetcha. [grin] I'm Luffy. You gonna join Ace's crew then?

If he wants me. I offered t' Marco an' Logan, but I haven' actually talked t' him yet.

[Her tone stays pretty light. She's not too worried about it.]

Pro'ly pretty important, huh? Talkin' t' the captain.

haha yeah usually. But Ace is different and if Logan likes you and Marco does he's not gonna have a problem. [he tears another chunk of meat]

He has some pretty great adventures but a lot of fighting, too. Ahh-- there was this one thing and something before, but I don't remember.

'M not too bad at fightin'. Hopefully I'll be able t' help 'em out a bit.

[Especially with these slavers and their ability to dampen the powers of others.]

Mostly in the sorta heroin' business. Savin' people, that kinda thing.

No statue or belt, an' my costume's back where I'm from, but I do have one.

My whole team has costumes, actually.

Superhero team?! Ah! That's so cool! SO COOL! Do you have a cool name?! [he holds out a hand] No wait [ahh he's so happy he's going to explode] NO tell me what is it?!

The team's called the X-Men. X for our professor -- Xavier. He calls the shots; we're his team.

[She grins, laughing a little. Because just thinking about them all makes her smile. Enough to turn around, actually, and push herself up onto the rail.]
