Giant Spiders Oh My
Who: the current Hazmats
Where: sailing to Manahana-lia Island, then on the island
When: August 27 through September 5th
What: sailing as fast as they can to rescue Cynthia, and the rescue thereof. They'll try to save time by jumping through Empieza but...
Warnings: spiders. Violence, talk of death, Gan Ning's mouth
Style: whatever you want, don't mind the setup
Status: closed to Hazmat crew
The minute the scream came though his journal, Gan Ning was moving. There was no time to waste fiddling around, they had to set sail to find Cynthia before it was too late. He tore through any maps and information they had on the ship, looking for anything that suggested spiders. Her clue, the spider-webs, meant that was all he had to go on. Fortunately, other pirates around the docks totally knew which island that was, and aside from impressing on him the "don't go there" part of the legend, told him where to find it.
It did seem odd that no matter where they were, if they set sail for Isla Empieza, they'd make it there in a day or so instead of weeks. Gan Ning relied on that, even though he didn't do more than skim through the harbor before setting a new course for Manahana-lia in the far west of the land. Hopefully weather wouldn't be against them. They had a long way to go and didn't have Wan there to guide the winds in their favor.
Spiders, the other pirates said. There'd be large spiders and his crew would be killed. Nope, Xingba would not let anyone die if he could help it. But that meant they'd have to fight. Roxas needed to heal so he could guard the ship, but everyone else, well...
Let's hope they make it on time.
[ooc: info on the island is here - make and date your own sailing threads but we'll hit the island about the 3rd or 4th and there'll be a fight log for that]

Sailing Catchall - Anytime.
[Sometimes she stayed in the ocean outside of the ship, keeping up with it, exploring around and doing what she had been doing. Exploring along with the ship's movements. When it got faster then she could swim she hauled herself back up the side of the ship and to deck.]
[You can find her either swimming next to the ship, or curled up on deck tail tucked under her. Or, in the little raised life boat of water that Wan made for her. The water was half dried out though, as he's not here to fill it anymore. She'll have to fix that later.]

Hey. Uh. Hi.

Hello. [she said, dropping her dinglehopper out of view as she was brushing her hair. She gave a small smile and leaned over the edge of the boat to look down to the man. The Captain.] You're the Captain, yes?

[But instead she gave a nod, leaning over the edge of her boat tub and pushed a smile again.]
It's nice to meet you officially, Xingba, [she said with a question in her eyes, as if to see if she said it right.] I'm Ariel. [in case he hadn't got a name for her before]
And it's all right. Things have been moving pretty fast. I've enjoyed exploring so far though.

Ariel, huh? Yeah, good to have ya on board. I guess Wan was takin' care of what you need, so...if he don't come back, let me know and I'll make sure the boys pick up the slack.
no subject
Oh... yes. Wan. [deflates again, just a little. She gets attached to people easy, okay? But! She flipped her tail a bit, so the fin draped over the end a bit, her arms on the edge of the boat still, watchful.]
Actually... I wanted to ask if I could have a bucket. [Sounds dumb, huh? But maybe Hiccup could build a pully, so she could fish her own water out of the side and up again.] To get water?

I don't want to be any bother to the others. And it'll help pull my weight a bit. I think that was the term?

[She COULD be helpful right?] Last few islands we've hit, I've been staying with the ship, for the most part. Keeping an eye on it.
no subject
[ahem.]
Don't suppose you could help us find faster currents to get us west as fast as possible?
no subject
Oh, well... yes. I think I could. We're headed west to find the Lady Cynthia, yes?

She's almost familiar. But he didn't think he knew any mermaids, not really. There was one in the Spades but he didn't know much about her. He feels like he's seen this mermaid before.
He moves over right in front of her and bends down a bit to look at her face.]
Um, hi!
[He waves with the hand not tied up in a sling with a friendly smile, even though his brow is creased in concentration.]
Have we met?
no subject
[have they met? Nope! Though she's seen him on the ship sometimes.]
I... don't think so. Hello! I'm Ariel. [said with a smile, leaning on her hands and looking up at him.]
no subject
No? You look very familiar.
[Oh well, doesn't matter much does it? He smiles.]
I'm Roxas!
no subject
I think I would remember someone as interesting as you look. My first time meeting humans was recently!
[clearly it was recent.]
no subject
[No, it's just not coming to him. He gives his head a shake. It's probably not important.]
You don't have humans in your world?
no subject
We have... humans. I'm just forbidden to go talk to them.
no subject
Yeah, I wasn't really supposed to talk to normal people before. Lea said it's because I might know how much like a normal person I could be. I'm allowed now though.
no subject
[well, that's true, isn't it?]
no subject
[There's a few people he knows wouldn't be pleased with him, but they aren't there so he really needs not to worry about it.]
no subject
[she pouted at the thought, as she really liked these people and adventures!]
Though I hope my father never shows up here. He wouldn't understand.
no subject
I won't remember this place?
[It isn't so much that he won't remember, he'd expect that mostly because he has such difficulty remembering things in the first place. But to know he's supposed to forget is something else entirely.]
That's awful.
no subject
[Him included! He's very cheerful.]
