Giant Spiders Oh My
Who: the current Hazmats
Where: sailing to Manahana-lia Island, then on the island
When: August 27 through September 5th
What: sailing as fast as they can to rescue Cynthia, and the rescue thereof. They'll try to save time by jumping through Empieza but...
Warnings: spiders. Violence, talk of death, Gan Ning's mouth
Style: whatever you want, don't mind the setup
Status: closed to Hazmat crew
The minute the scream came though his journal, Gan Ning was moving. There was no time to waste fiddling around, they had to set sail to find Cynthia before it was too late. He tore through any maps and information they had on the ship, looking for anything that suggested spiders. Her clue, the spider-webs, meant that was all he had to go on. Fortunately, other pirates around the docks totally knew which island that was, and aside from impressing on him the "don't go there" part of the legend, told him where to find it.
It did seem odd that no matter where they were, if they set sail for Isla Empieza, they'd make it there in a day or so instead of weeks. Gan Ning relied on that, even though he didn't do more than skim through the harbor before setting a new course for Manahana-lia in the far west of the land. Hopefully weather wouldn't be against them. They had a long way to go and didn't have Wan there to guide the winds in their favor.
Spiders, the other pirates said. There'd be large spiders and his crew would be killed. Nope, Xingba would not let anyone die if he could help it. But that meant they'd have to fight. Roxas needed to heal so he could guard the ship, but everyone else, well...
Let's hope they make it on time.
[ooc: info on the island is here - make and date your own sailing threads but we'll hit the island about the 3rd or 4th and there'll be a fight log for that]

Sailing catchall 8/27-9/3
Anyone might find him anywhere, but particularly the helm or using the galley as a map room so he can plot course. Please bother him!]

What're you doing?
no subject
Tryin' to make heads or tails of these charts. It's one thing to know where we're supposed to go, it's another to actually find it on a map.
[he sighs and slumps, chin in hands]
How ya doin' with the arm wrapped up there?

I make food in here, you know.
[Not exactly a convincing way to get the table back, considering there's plenty of counter space and he's obviously not here to cook at the moment.]

again, Gaius has been less in the candy-making mood and more anxious about how long it'd take for them to get to their destination. He hops down from the shrouds to the crow's nest, turning about only a second or two after his boots hit the deck. Nothing new to report, no land sighted, but better no trouble than something, right?]

Roxas' Catchall 8/27-9/5
Roxas can be found sulking about the fact he really can't do very much that he finds fun with only one arm. To his credit though, he's not really hiding anymore but rather sitting out on the deck or the railing openly. He's either reading a novel, or if he's in the mood, trying to work on his light magic by creating tiny, marble sized balls of light. Due to the insistence all around that he needs to rest, he can be expected to do just that.
When it comes time to hit the island, Roxas will be doing the very important job of guarding the ship. (And eating a box or two of Lea's chocolates. It's not his fault, they were left unguarded.)]

Look at you all serious.

Hmm? I was just reading this book.

Lea Catchall 8/27-9/3
Sailing Catchall - Anytime.
[Sometimes she stayed in the ocean outside of the ship, keeping up with it, exploring around and doing what she had been doing. Exploring along with the ship's movements. When it got faster then she could swim she hauled herself back up the side of the ship and to deck.]
[You can find her either swimming next to the ship, or curled up on deck tail tucked under her. Or, in the little raised life boat of water that Wan made for her. The water was half dried out though, as he's not here to fill it anymore. She'll have to fix that later.]

Hey. Uh. Hi.
no subject
Hello. [she said, dropping her dinglehopper out of view as she was brushing her hair. She gave a small smile and leaned over the edge of the boat to look down to the man. The Captain.] You're the Captain, yes?

She's almost familiar. But he didn't think he knew any mermaids, not really. There was one in the Spades but he didn't know much about her. He feels like he's seen this mermaid before.
He moves over right in front of her and bends down a bit to look at her face.]
Um, hi!
[He waves with the hand not tied up in a sling with a friendly smile, even though his brow is creased in concentration.]
Have we met?
no subject
[have they met? Nope! Though she's seen him on the ship sometimes.]
I... don't think so. Hello! I'm Ariel. [said with a smile, leaning on her hands and looking up at him.]

Leo Catchall 8/27 - 9/5
Right now he was in full-out serious ninja mode. The mdoe that he would be in when leading at home, even if that wasn't the case in this world. Right now Cynthia could be in who knows what kind of trouble and they had to get her out. No matter what, they would save her. He wasn't going to fail at losing a person that he cared about twice.
He can be found anywhere. Sparring,, practicing on his own, thinking of the best course of action to take, or just sitting by himself. He's somewhere, but he's not in the most chipper of moods. o be wary of that.
no subject
What he does know is that there is a turtle doing practicing and he's very interested in seeing someone else's fighting style. Maybe they could spar!
Only he'd better wait for that until his injuries are healed because he's pretty sure the Captain and Lea were going to be unhappy if he reopens his wounds. Again.]
Spider Battle 9/3-4ish
Two ninja turtles, the fiery Lea, dread Gaius (and his pal), and Gan Ning would be the primary fighters. Xingba had no idea what this island looked like, how it was laid out, or anything, so it was his thought they should split up and make their way through the caves. The main obstacle between them and the treasure room - with its giant, poisonous queen - is the veritable army of smaller spiders. Still venomous, their bites would not kill, so...small favors.
Their damsel in distress is in the treasure room in the heart of the caves, unconscious and captive in a web. They need to get to her before the queen gets hungry and decides to poison her.]
no subject
Gaius is suited up like the day he returned to the ship. They were essentially invading enemy territory, so there was no reason not to treat this as a real battle.
He'll take the opportunity to scout ahead, trying to pick out the best way for them to get to where they want to go. Seems like he's picked up a few more stealthy tricks since his trip home as well.]
Well, this looks fun.
[He states flatly as he looks at the where the cavern splits ahead of them.]
So, who wants to go which way? Scouting 'em both out will just take more time than we probably have.
no subject
Yeah, you're probably right. Take a team that way, Gaius, I'll take the rest this way. Somebody may want to hang back and keep an eye on our retreat, too.

[Lea has arrived with a plate of sandwiches. If she's not ready to eat them, he's not above eating them himself. He invites himself in, finds a convenient spot of floor to set the plate, then claims a spot against the wall to lean.]
