The minute the scream came though his journal, Gan Ning was moving. There was no time to waste fiddling around, they had to set sail to find Cynthia before it was too late. He tore through any maps and information they had on the ship, looking for anything that suggested spiders. Her clue, the spider-webs, meant that was all he had to go on. Fortunately, other pirates around the docks totally knew which island that was, and aside from impressing on him the "don't go there" part of the legend, told him where to find it.

It did seem odd that no matter where they were, if they set sail for Isla Empieza, they'd make it there in a day or so instead of weeks. Gan Ning relied on that, even though he didn't do more than skim through the harbor before setting a new course for Manahana-lia in the far west of the land. Hopefully weather wouldn't be against them. They had a long way to go and didn't have Wan there to guide the winds in their favor.

Spiders, the other pirates said. There'd be large spiders and his crew would be killed. Nope, Xingba would not let anyone die if he could help it. But that meant they'd have to fight. Roxas needed to heal so he could guard the ship, but everyone else, well...

Let's hope they make it on time.

[Lea pets Roxas' hair, eyes a bit sad.]

This is why you've gotta go back, you know. So you two can sort out what goes where and I can pick up the finished product when you're done.

[He lets out a content little sigh because he really likes it when Lea plays with his hair.]

Do you think we can figure that kind of thing out? I never thought of that before.

[It hasn't occurred to him that joining with Sora would mean that he might get fixed...it's an amazing thought.]

I know I have to go back to him. I know. I just..need to hang on right?

Right. Just sit tight and don't let Sora get into too much trouble.

[Lea idly threads his fingers through Roxas' hair, but he turns his head to the side to stare at some point near the horizon. That earnest, hopeful look is a bit too much to take.]

[Roxas laughs a little at that. He attracts enough trouble on his own, he isn't sure how he can stop Sora from doing that.

He sighs contently again and just relaxes.]

Do you think when I'm there Sora will talk to me?

Probably. He's a bit of a flake sometimes, but he's a good kid. Kinda like someone else I know.

[He'd rather not compare them in front of Roxas, but it's not like there aren't similarities. Plenty of differences, too, but the two of them were undoubtedly similar.]

That would be good. I know, we met, remember? He seemed nice!

[That would work assuming that Roxas didn't lose himself when they merged again.]

[Lea hadn't been so impressed with Sora in the time that they'd been together on the Moon, but he was willing to chalk it up to some sort of parallel timeline whatever. Marco probably already had a dissertation on it written in crayon.]

Yeah, that's Sora for you...

[Roxas seems like he's thinking about that. It might not be so bad if he wasn't going to just be locked up in the darkness somewhere. If he was truly honest about it, he didn't exactly love the whole darkness thing.]

I guess. You know him better than I do.

Sorta. I guess I met him a few more times than you. Still haven't had a chance to get to know him very well, though.

[He liked him, though. He couldn't not. But it wasn't the same.]

It's okay. You can know me instead! I'm way better than Sora.

[He jokes with a big grin.]

[That earns a smile from Lea, especially because it's true.]

Yeah, you are. Definitely my first choice.

Good! [He snuggles to Lea's stomach and hums a bit.]

Oh yeah, I remembered something. Did you try and summon your keyblade recently?

Hm? No?

[He's not really sure what brought that one up.]

You should try it!

[He's had an idea, that's all. He wants to know if it worked.]

[Lea holds his hand out and summons the keyblade. Or at least he tries. It takes a few futile attempts and puffs of flame and smoke before it actually makes an appearance.]

Okay. Now what?

Hmmm. I wonder why you can't summon it. Let me see it?

[Roxas squirms out from under Lea's arm to sit up properly and holds out his hand for the keyblade.]

Not very good at it, I guess.

[He hands it over, still not sure what Roxas is up to.]

I haven't had a whole lot of practice, really. I didn't get past just making the thing show up back home and it's just easier to use my chakrams if we get stuck in a fight.

Yeah, it's easier, but it's not going to help you get better.

[Roxas grins and holds it away from him.]

You were just holding it. Think about the weight in your hand and summon it back to you. Otherwise, I might just keep it! [He teases lightly.]

The weight in my hand...

[Lea's brow furrows as he concentrates, but the keyblade stays firm in Roxas' grasp. Even when he closes his eyes so he can focus, his hand stays empty. He sighs and droops.]

See? No good.

[He thinks about it for a minute and turns it in his hand before digging the tip of the blade in the crack on the deck.]

Try now. I won't hold it.

[Maybe he's interfering somehow.]

[Lea tries it again, but to no avail. The keyblade stays stuck in the deck where Roxas left it. He's almost tempted to just grab it and be done with it.]

Are you sure this is supposed to work?

I don't know why it wouldn't. I can do it.

[Roxas summons Oblivion and slides it across the deck. He holds out his hand and it vanishes where it is, appearing back in his hand.]

I thought the other day if you were used to holding a keyblade for awhile it would make summoning easier. I guess...maybe not.

It's not like I ever use it, so...

[He put in the work to learn to summon it, but he didn't really put much thought into what he was going to do with it. He doesn't really have much interest in actually using it to fight unless people are around who understand what it means.]

Why not? Don't you want to use it?

[Roxas blinks at him. He likes his keyblades and he uses them every time it's needed. He didn't really have other options though.]

I already have my chakrams. I've practiced with that style since I was a kid, so it's not like it's easy to just give up. I mean, I practiced hard to get that keyblade and sure I'm gonna use it when the time comes and I need to, but...I don't know...

[He shrugs. The only time he can use the thing reliably is when he goes all hero on people. It's annoying.]
