The minute the scream came though his journal, Gan Ning was moving. There was no time to waste fiddling around, they had to set sail to find Cynthia before it was too late. He tore through any maps and information they had on the ship, looking for anything that suggested spiders. Her clue, the spider-webs, meant that was all he had to go on. Fortunately, other pirates around the docks totally knew which island that was, and aside from impressing on him the "don't go there" part of the legend, told him where to find it.

It did seem odd that no matter where they were, if they set sail for Isla Empieza, they'd make it there in a day or so instead of weeks. Gan Ning relied on that, even though he didn't do more than skim through the harbor before setting a new course for Manahana-lia in the far west of the land. Hopefully weather wouldn't be against them. They had a long way to go and didn't have Wan there to guide the winds in their favor.

Spiders, the other pirates said. There'd be large spiders and his crew would be killed. Nope, Xingba would not let anyone die if he could help it. But that meant they'd have to fight. Roxas needed to heal so he could guard the ship, but everyone else, well...

Let's hope they make it on time.

[That's what Lea told him. It doesn't matter anyway. He had all these friends on the Spades and Lea didn't, it's just the opposite that's all.]

[ Siiiiigh. Ok, new angle time. ]

You know what, Roxas? I've been only one talking. Tell me your side.

What do you mean? About what? About coming here?

About everything. I want to know your story...just, skip the organization part. We don't need to go back that far.

[He stares at her a little bit.]

Okay, so let me think what happened in the last few months.

[It's kind of less than half of 'his story'.]

When we came here and I woke up on that island and people were trying to kill me, which isn't that weird but I ran into Lea and Riku and Riku took us to the Spades ship. He wasn't all that happy to see me.

Was this Riku from your world too?

Yeah, he is. He's Sora's best friend.

[He seems to think about it some more.]

I got a skateboard from a weird ship and a pink pony decided my birthday should be in January and we had a party. I died, and then there was a lot of really weird candy that tasted really good. Marco got me drunk once and we went to the beach!

[Okay, so some of his memories are very much out of order, but it'd be easier to talk about people than a timeline.]

Huh...that actually does sound fun. Maybe we should have a beach day sometime. I know I need one.

Maybe..it was fun! Lea and I played around a lot and we had a race but he won because he's tall. What else...and Marco took me flying around the island! He showed me all of his tricks and it was really really cool!

Oh yeah, I think Marco told me about that. But tell me more about Marco. What's he like?

Okay, well, when I met him he was just a bird. A phoenix, I think, and I fed him some sunflower seeds and we played a lot. I showed him how to skateboard on one foot! It's really impressive. [He grins but sighs a little bit.] I think I met him not long after I got here and he was always a bird.

Birds don't talk though, so I talked to him because...I don't know. Sometimes it's too quiet and I told him lots of things about my favourite candies and skateboarding and other things like being in the Organization. I didn't know he was a person, but he started sending me letters which was really cool because he had all these questions about things I guess he didn't understand when I explained. So I talked a lot at him and he lets me use him as a pillow or hold onto him and just...

[He looks away.] He was lying though. Lea told me just before we left and I was very very angry at him. But he said he was sorry, he didn't mean to lie he just wanted to be my friend because he's got responsibilities and he didn't have to do that when he was a bird and he says sometimes he has a hard time talking. I don't know, me too. I don't always know what to say. So I said it was okay. It's not a bad thing, when I see him now he gives me a big hug and still listens to me only I don't have to wait for his letters to answer his questions.

What was he lying about?

I didn't know he was Marco. Because birds don't talk I named him Xifer, so he could have a name like mine.

[He sighs a little.]

Lea was pretty mad about it.

Wait wait sorry, I got a little confused there. Lea got mad because you didn't know the bird was Marco? Or he got mad because you didn't tell him the bird was Marco?

No, he actually knew it was Marco and didn't tell me.

[Wait, did he actually get mad at Lea about that? Or was he too distracted?]

He got mad because I called him Xifer.

...why?

It's like Gaius getting mad because I call our captain "Kitty". That makes no sense.

Because I wanted him to have a name like mine and Lea didn't want me to give him an Organization name. I didn't understand it then, but I do now.

[By the last sentence his tone has gone completely dark, more anger lurking under the surface. This is different however, it's not the usual flash, it's the kind of anger that precedes revenge.]

O...kay? And why didn't Lea want to give him an "organization name"?

[ Whatever the hell that means. ]

[He's looking in Cynthia's direction, but he's not really looking at her. His fingers curl into a fist again as he glares. If only Xemnas were here and Roxas could get his hands on him with Lea and they would teach him a thing or two.]

It's the same reason he won't let me get my tattoos. When we got our names, he stole our identities. I should be called Sora, but he stole my name from me by putting the 'X' in it to make Roxas. The 'X' is also like a marker so I can be tracked and controlled. They always know where I am. As long as I'm a Nobody, they will be able to find me. It's how he used me.

[His tone is cold as ice, matching the glare.]

...you mean the organization?

Yes, the Organization.

[He looks away, his eyes a little watery. It is just pure hot anger in the pit of his stomach like lead.]

No one ever tells me anything. Axel never told me anything.

Axel? Uhh...he was Lea's nobody right? I'm sorry Roxas. But I'm not all that sure I fully grasp the concept of being a nobody.

[He takes a slow, deep breath.]

A Nobody is someone who looks like a regular person but they have no heart. Someone with a strong heart gets their heart taken from them and a Nobody is born. All of them were like Axel. Axel knew he had been Lea. He couldn't feel anything, no feelings, nothing, but he remembered what that was like. The Organization was just a group of thirteen Nobodies, doing bad things.

I'm a little different from other Nobodies. I don't know anything about Sora, I don't remember Sora and my connection to him is weird. I don't remember anything before I was born a Nobody. I also have a keyblade. Well, two, actually. Lea also thinks I happen to have a heart, growing inside me. I was numb for awhile but I've been able to feel things since I fell asleep for a month. Slowly. Even though Axel said I wasn't feeling those things, I think I was. Maybe I've always had a heart...I don't know.

Axel got his heart back and he's taken his name back. He's Lea. When we go home, Sora will be complete too.
