After a nasty prolonged battle, the Spades deserve a nice, peaceful retreat.

Finished with some water. Sorry it took awhile this time.

It's fine. Put the barrel over there.

[And he's going to slice up a few more vegetables to add to the vegetarian stew.]

Sorry you had to apparently do without me for a few days.

Ahh. [Ace set it down, looking a bit sleepy after a moment. He yawned into an open hand, seating himself at the table rather quickly. He was injured enough that even a meal couldn't make him too jumpy.]

I was asleep for the first day or so. I'm just glad you weren't captured, chef.

Not likely they would've taken me. [Zeff gives a grin.] One advantage to having a fake leg: Everybody's looking for slaves that are whole.

Huuuuh. A good thing they didn't find out about your cooking. You're at a level where folks would trade half their treasure to recruit you, old man.

The smart ones would. [Loads of pride in his voice at that.] Fortunately, not everyone's that smart.

[Ace let out a 'harumph' of a laugh, leaning against his elbows at the table.]

Their loss. So--while were there, did you get a chance to taste anything local?

Couple of new dishes that I'll have to try. Largely been keeping things simple while everybody recovers from that whole mess.

You don't gotta hold back. I heard chefs could grow tired of cooking the same thing over and over, so don't worry on account of us.

[Not that he could argue the crew needed rest, but--food was a huge comfort hi--...them.]

That we do. [He smirks at that.] However right now I didn't want to risk making someone worse by feeding them something their bodies weren't ready to handle after all that insanity. Does no good to set someone back on their recovery by making them sick with food that's too rich for them.
