[That is sort of true, since he doesn't actually have a plan.]
Why are you looking at me like that? I haven't done anything!
[Just look at a nest of dinosaurs and try to figure out if he could steal one and what it would take to keep one as a pet.]
Really, I haven't!

[With dramatic flair, Mitsunari brandishes the pommel of his sword at Motochika.]
State your true intentions. Now.
no subject
I'm just having a look, that's all. Put that thing away, Mitsunari, and I'd advise you not to point it at me again unless you intend on using it.
[It's a bit of a risk, because he's fairly certain Mitsunari does intend on using it, but maybe it'll get it through his head what a bad idea that would be.]
no subject
With some reluctance, Mitsunari looks from the "birds" to Motochika and then returns his sword to its scabbard. He shoots him a look that screams, "Fine, have it your way."]
You were acting as if you had something on your mind.
no subject
[There...aren't usually deep thoughts going on in there.]
It would be quite interesting to watch these little fellows grow, though. Pi-chan wasn't half this ugly when he was a chick.
[He means that in the kindest way possible, of course.]
no subject
[He may as well just voice what he's been thinking. He's not totally convinced Motochika has enough self-control to just window shop, so to speak.]
no subject
[That would be a "yes." You can't expect him to look at an ugly baby dinosaur and not want to steal one or two for himself.]
But we can only feed and house so many animals on the ship...
[He realized that much, but his preferred solution to the problem would be to make the ship bigger rather than keep fewer animals. He cranes his neck, trying to get a better look at the brood in the nest.]
But if they stay little...
no subject
If they stay little it is irrelevant, because you are not taking a single one back to the ship. First you had your parrot and the turkey, then you took the armadillo, then you bought your chickens, and now you want a dinosaur?
[THERE IS A LIMIT.]
no subject
Had we a proper base set up, I could have as many dinosaurs as I wanted.
[Apparently, the captain will forever and always be five years old at heart.]
no subject
[He's imagining something like a horse corral except filled with dinosaurs, and the more he envisions it, the more he wants to make sure that never becomes a thing.]
I refuse to be in any way responsible for over-sized pet lizards.
[Who would feed them? ...What would they even feed them?]
no subject
[It's not the most mature response, but it's the truth. He's the captain and he's the final authority in things like this. If he goes a bit overboard, that means he has no one to blame for the fallout but himself. To his credit, he generally doesn't try to blame his mistakes on others, but he doesn't exactly take it well when they're pointed out to him.]
You don't have to take care of them. Kodachi will do it.
no subject
[Alright, truth be told, he could live with it if it didn't inconvenience him any. But it chafes him to see Motochika just going and disregarding what he said!
Sometimes Mitsunari kind of forgets this isn't the Western Army and Motochika isn't under any obligation to follow his demands.
Hey, when people are all following your commands for a long period of time, you start to expect it.]
no subject
[Nor was it the case in his own. He may have offered his services to the Western Army had he not uncovered the plot at its core, but as things stood, he remained independent.]
no subject
[Mitsunari really hates not being able to disagree with people in spite of very much wanting to.]
Ugh. Do as you will.
no subject
[This is the most mature argument ever.]
Not that I was even going to take one in the first place.
[Well, he thought about it. Now he's not sure if he wants to raise one out of spite or that's too immature even for him.]
But I could.
[Because he's the captain.]
no subject
[Such maturity happening right now. It's a good thing looks can't kill...]
no subject
[Not steal one. Not at all.]
You're the one who started making demands.
[It seems every argument this crew gets into would be more suited to children in a nursery.]
no subject
[Hmph!]
Steal less animals and I will have less reason to suspect you of wanting to steal more!
no subject
[It kind of comes with the territory. He'd steal the whole tree the nest is in if he could figure out how to plant it on the ship. Instead, he'll look for a way to climb it and see if he can snatch a dinosaur instead.]
Stealing treasure is what pirates do.
no subject
And that is why my suspicion is justified! You have no right to complain when you have brought this upon yourself!
no subject
I'm not complaining!
[This is when Sayaka usually hits him. It's a good thing no one has picked up on the fact that typically works.]
I'm just pointing out important facts about my lifestyle.
[And looking covetously at baby dinosaurs.]
no subject
[Staaare. He's got your number, Motochika.]
You're digging yourself deeper and deeper with every word out of your mouth.
no subject
[Says the man about to climb a tree. Sheepishly, he backs away from the tree a little, then leans on it nonchalantly like that's what he meant to do all along.]
