[As soon as the sun did not rise on the 1st, like others had suggested it would, Gan Ning wanted off Isla Empieza. He put out the call to his crew - get on the ship, leave no man behind. Or woman, Cynthia.

The storm hit while they were two days out from the island. It would take all hands on deck to keep the Nightfury from capsizing, good thing they have a couple of solid dragons to keep things in check. Just watch out for Gaius and his fiery pendant! By the time the storm blows out in the wee hours on the 4th, the charts put them drifting near to Eternal Bliss. Are the residents still pissed at pirates for what Kodachi did? Who cares, they need to land to make repairs. And maybe score some treasure, if anyone wants to go through the marriage requirement.

[Toothless would be surprised to know that Roxas is completely unaware of the storm. It's a little windy, a little cold to him but considering his nightmare that doesn't seem all that out of place.

He isn't watching the dragon when he comes up from below deck, nor does he look at the dragon when he approaches. He also doesn't respond to the friendly warning from his confused playmate.

Roxas just sits there as if a storm is not raging around him, huddled in on himself. He's not that big, if the storm becomes very violent, he could find himself overboard in a heartbeat.]

[That's what baffles the dragon. He makes a crooning sound, but no response comes from Roxas at all. Toothless even pushes his snout against the kid's shoulder.

His head lifts abruptly as a large wave peaks above the railing, and with a grunt, the dragon moves to try grabbing on to the back of Roxas's shirt while he shifts around the kid to try and block most of the water as it crashes down.]

[He feels the nudge, but it's brief and apart from making him look around, it doesn't do much.

The wave is a lot more water than he would be expecting. Now there's something a little firmer, Toothless has the back of his shirt in his mouth and although he looks confused, he raises a hand, feeling the air around him until it lands on the dragon's head. The green eyes are really the only thing Roxas can make note of since he blends in well with his nightmare.]

You're...the dragon?

[Sorry Toothless, he hasn't learned his name. He isn't sure how Toothless got there, but he keeps his hand on the scales so he doesn't disappear from his sight again.]

[It's good enough for Toothless. His mouth still clamped on a mouthful of the kid's shirt, he shakes out the rest of his body right down to his tail to be rid of the salt water.

The sound the dragon makes is an inquiring one, as best as can be made when he's got something in his mouth.]

You are the dragon.

[Roxas smiles just a little and rubs the top of his head lightly.]

Everything is dark. Everything around me. I can't really see anything. It's kinda cold too. I can see you, kind of, but you're black. Now I'm all wet though.

[His rumbling-purr is a sound of relief. The dragon shoves his head against the kid's hand before he gives an insistent tug. Maybe Roxas will go along with him now?]

[His brow furrows. Why is the dragon pulling on him? Roxas isn't sure because he's not aware of his surroundings but he does continue to pet Toothless with his hand.]

Are you...is something wrong?

[Toothless lets go of the kid's shirt long enough to gurble at him. Little human why you no see the loud waters!!!]

Wait, don't go!

[Roxas cries out when he's let go and plants both hands on Toothless' head.]

I'll...what do you want me to do? You want me to get up?

[b2_dragon]

[The sudden shout startles him just a little, but at least Roxas maintains contact with him. Up? He knows the words. Up...will mean they can go, yes? The dragon bobs his head, growlfing.]

Okay. Just hang on.

[Balancing himself on Toothless' head, Roxas gets to his feet slowly, wobbling a little uncertainly. He lets go of the dragon in the process but once he gets standing, he starts groping around for Toothless again.

Please be there, please.]

[Toothless moves closer to him, noticing his wobbliness. He's helped Hiccup often enough, so being alongside Roxas is no problem. Crooning again, the dragon lifts a wing just behind the kid to keep him from being splashed by the next errant wave.]

[His hands find their way onto the scales once more and Roxas squints a little to see him. He nods a bit, holding on tightly.]

Okay, I'm standing. Can you...where do you want me to go?

[He realizes asking a dragon that doesn't talk seems silly, but somehow Roxas thinks Toothless might understand him. He clearly wants him to go somewhere, or to show him something, but really if he knows the way out of the darkness, that would be a huge help.]

[Okay, good. The dragon starts along with another grunt. So long as Roxas will move along with him, then Toothless will stick by him to guide him below, out of the storm.]

[His steps are uncertain, and his grip on Toothless is tight, but Roxas walks forward with him. He isn't even sure how long he's been stuck in this nightmare at this point, it feels like an eternity. It is very helpful to have the dragon's help and company at the moment.]

[It's a bit of a slow process, but Toothless manages to get them to the steps, giving a warning growl before starting down. Out of the rain, out of the wet.]

[Unfortunately Roxas doesn't speak dragon and although he's given a warning, he still stumbles on the first step, falling with a yelp. He catches himself on the second step, banging his back on the top step. At least he didn't fall all the way down below deck, that would have hurt a lot more. He's not seriously hurt or anything, fortunately. He pokes at himself carefully to test how painful it is.]

Sorry! I didn't hurt you did I?

[The human's usually so much better than this. Toothless wonders what's happened. He tries to nudge the kid back onto his feet, growling his concern.]

[He usually is, that's true. He appreciates the nudges and he hangs onto Toothless before finding his footing and getting to his feet. Once he's situated again he takes another careful step down.]

I'm okay, just surprised. How are there stairs here?

[It's a question, but Toothless doesn't know what the kid's asking. He's just happy that it seems Roxas seems to understand that they're going down now, so he takes each step alongside the kid, just in case he might fall again.]

[He appreciates it. His steps are even more hesitant than before now that he's fallen and when he reaches the landing, he tries his footing as thought he had another step. It takes a moment to realize it's okay and he's on level ground. He holds onto Toothless again.]

Is this where you want me?

[Toothless gives another grunt, nodding his head once under Roxas's hand as he guesses at the question.]

[Gratefully, Roxas collapses to his knees. The stairs were weird, but maybe this dark place he's in is trying to hurt him. Thank goodness Toothless came along. He doesn't let go of him though, draping himself over the dragon, resting his forehead on him. He's cold and wet to the touch thanks to the waves, but he doesn't complain. He's hanging on before he loses himself.]

[It's a sound of concern that the dragon makes, craning his head around to glance at the boy. Very slowly, Toothless eases himself to the ground, wrapping a wing over the poor wet kid. He's not sure what more he can do, but so long as Roxas is down here, at least that means he won't get knocked off the boat.]
