Into the storm
Who: Hazardous Materials with special guest star Draco Malfoy
Where: the ship, and then Eternal Bliss (oh joy)
When: November 1-5 at sea, 6-? on land
What: sailing log, and then shenanigans on wedding island
Warnings: let me know if there are any
Style: as you please
Status: closed to "who"
[As soon as the sun did not rise on the 1st, like others had suggested it would, Gan Ning wanted off Isla Empieza. He put out the call to his crew - get on the ship, leave no man behind. Or woman, Cynthia.
The storm hit while they were two days out from the island. It would take all hands on deck to keep the Nightfury from capsizing, good thing they have a couple of solid dragons to keep things in check. Just watch out for Gaius and his fiery pendant! By the time the storm blows out in the wee hours on the 4th, the charts put them drifting near to Eternal Bliss. Are the residents still pissed at pirates for what Kodachi did? Who cares, they need to land to make repairs. And maybe score some treasure, if anyone wants to go through the marriage requirement.

Cynthia's pretty trustworthy, but I see what you mean. And it's not a bad backup plan, actually.

[It was one of those "sweaters from Grandma at Christmas" sort of situations. Awkward. She's probably still mad at him about it.]
Lucky me.

[But he pauses, giving Lea a quizzical look. Meaning spill, what's up.]

She bought me this huge box of cookbooks as a present. Well, I mean, at first she said it was for me, then she said it was for me and Gaius, so it's not like it wasn't awkward from the start, but...
[He makes a face and shrugs. Girls, right?]
I dunno, it's like getting your mom a new vacuum for her birthday or something.

[He agrees, though. Girls can be confusing.]
I'm also gonna pretend I know what a vacuum is, but I get what you're saying.

[Nothing's really coming to mind. It's kind of depressing.]
I do kinda stay in the galley a lot...being antisocial, making cute little boxes to put chocolates in... Of course, if the wind picks up too much, it's dangerous for me to be out on deck anyway. That dragon of yours had to keep me from blowing away once. Embarrassing.

[The slice that's been in front of his mouth finally goes in, two bites chewed and swallowed during the short pause. Hiccup gives Lea a lopsided grin.]
With all of the baking and cooking, I just figured you were keeping busy. And I get how that is, with the wind and waves. Toothless is really good at being an on-board anchor. Plus whenever it gets like that, I have to be tethered to the ship.
[Because they're both sticks and there's no denying this.]

[Lea shakes his head. Some people just aren't cut out to be pirates. He's definitely going to avoid boats at all costs when he finally gets home.]
Maybe I should keep baking bread and we can eat it until we don't snap in half in a light breeze...

[Because dragons make flying awesome.]
...Y'know, that may actually work!

[He's not the best one to be teasing people about this sort of thing, but when has that ever stopped him before?]

Hey, I know she'd do great. Plus you'd be surprised! Big people can still ride on dragons half their size.

[He's trying to picture it and it's not working. Well, not that he can't picture it, but the mental image is just too silly and he's having a hard time believing it.]
Shouldn't there be, I don't know, lift issues?

The dragons are strong, though. The bigger ones, anyway! They can handle certain weight limits like it's nothing.

[They could probably just carry you off without a warning. Well, they could definitely carry Lea off, that's for sure.]
Good thing that's a "where you're from" thing and not a "here" thing.
