[As soon as the sun did not rise on the 1st, like others had suggested it would, Gan Ning wanted off Isla Empieza. He put out the call to his crew - get on the ship, leave no man behind. Or woman, Cynthia.

The storm hit while they were two days out from the island. It would take all hands on deck to keep the Nightfury from capsizing, good thing they have a couple of solid dragons to keep things in check. Just watch out for Gaius and his fiery pendant! By the time the storm blows out in the wee hours on the 4th, the charts put them drifting near to Eternal Bliss. Are the residents still pissed at pirates for what Kodachi did? Who cares, they need to land to make repairs. And maybe score some treasure, if anyone wants to go through the marriage requirement.

[Nods as he listens.]

Vikings versus dragon wars? That's definitely something that didn't make it into our history books.

[His eyes follow Hiccup's hand as he holds it toward Toothless, and then his gaze roams over the dragon. All the way down to his tail.]

You said you trapped him? Is that how his tail ended up like that?

I'd say you got the better end of the deal. While it's neat seeing it up close and personal, it gets exhausting.

[Not to mention it would sound crazy to people who are not wizards or fantasy-aligned, but yeah.

Hiccup does hesitate a bit, roughly running a hand through his hair.]

Well. Yeah! I did. I made this bola launcher and I-I actually aimed it and it...it took him down.

[Looks vaguely impressed. Because Hiccup is...well. And to take down a dragon. Wow.]

Job well done. I mean...well, obviously the outcome wasn't too terrible, at least, but still. Impressive being able to capture a dragon. Do you know, we have entire dragon sanctuaries in my world. It's a career you can pursue, actually. Being a dragonologist. You'd probably be good at it.

Then again, perhaps you'd be better suited to make weapons. A bola launcher? [Not that he's entirely sure what that is.] That can't have been easy.

[He should feel a little proud about constructing such a thing -- and he was at one point in time -- but as of right now, it's still a very iffy feeling.

Really? A dragonologist...I like the sound of that!

But weaponry's always necessary, I guess. That launcher did take a lot of time and recalibrations to get it right. And since I've been doing forgework forever, it's a natural fit.

I always thought so, too.

Then the hippogriff mauling happened and he had to watch four of his classmates nearly get torched by bloody huge dragons and he decided he was a bit put off of large, scary animals. Also, isn't that the job that one of Weasley's brothers has? Draco's father would never allow it.]

We don't really use weapons in my world.

Or Wizards don't, in any case. The Muggles have plenty. But we basically just fight with this.

[Twirls his wand again.]

Goblins are rather skilled at weaponry, though. And making armour.

Oh. Well, that's...impractical. Interesting! Potentially dangerous, even.

[Hiccup laughs awkwardly, swinging his arm a little.]

Mmagic is magic. Yyyou're sort of asking for trouble if you make fun of it, right?

[But at least he looks like he's heard of goblins. He grins.]

Hey, that's something. We have trolls running around somewhere! They don't really do much, however. They're known to steal socks, but only the left ones for some reason.

[Just looks at him, eyebrows just slightly lifted.]

More than sort of, I'd say. [Then he backs off, grinning again.] Remind me to show you some of my offensive spells sometime. They're not to be trifled with.

[After the sock thing, he blinks. Because whaaa?]

...Your trolls steal socks? [How odd. And random.] Ours enjoy the taste of raw human flesh.
