Meeting of the Minds

Who: Everyone who chooses to participate
Where: Breakneck Cay
When: December 5th
What: A summit to get down to business and get this situation sorted out, L-Elf-style
Warnings: Possible violence?
Style: Any
Status: Open

Upon arriving on Breakneck Cay, if you can navigate the shoals safely and find safe mooring, you'll notice that the beach is more or less abandoned unless you count the countless shipwrecks an snarled piles of debris strewn across the shore. If you approach the jungle, you'll notice a makeshift sign pointing towards a path leading into the trees. There's a lengthy note tacked to it with a detailed map, an exhaustive list of rules and etiquette for participating in a military summit, and probably more if anyone actually got past the part with the map.

The meeting is to be held in a strangely silent clearing. Upon arriving, you'll find L-Elf sitting on the huge stone in the center, fast asleep. It's immediately obvious that this is not a social occasion or it at least wasn't planned by someone with any idea how to make guests feel comfortable. There's nowhere to sit except on the ground and definitely no refreshments. It might be a good idea to send someone back to the ship to pick something up if you want to make it through this thing.

The snake?

[Oh, now he was just going to eye that crate.]

One from the island or a pet of yours?

Not from this island, no, and it's not a pet. I keep it around so I can collect its venom. It's more of co-worker.

[He also uses it to intimidate Kevin and Vyse. It comes in real handy for that, considering how deadly it is.]

I didn't want to leave it alone on the ship in case it got loose and killed someone.

Sounds like something an old subordinate of mine would like.

[He bent down to see if he could peer through a gap in the crate.]

Know how to handle it, I hope.

If I didn't know how to handle snakes, I wouldn't have lived past five!

[Even after a year out of the assassin's guild, it still hasn't quite sunk in with Ja'far how horrible his entire upbringing has been.

He reaches carefully into the crate and moves some papers aside so he can lift the snake out and drape it around his neck. It's not really all that big, but it certainly is hot pink and brilliant blue. It also has a great big puffball on its tail, which makes it look a lot more harmless than it actually is. All the animals on Safario had been similar, though, so he just dealt with it it.]

I don't let anyone else on the ship handle it. It'd probably kill them within the hour.

[Personally, England wasn't afraid of snakes. What could one do other than lay him out for a day at most? There were advantages to immortality. But that didn't mean he wasn't cautious, even as he looked at the odd looking thing.]

Well, it's good that you're keeping it close then. Can't say I've ever seen a snake like that, though.

I wanted one that was a little, um, less bright, but this was what I could catch. I didn't want to buy one because I don't really trust the merchants here all that much. They might say something is deadly, but I don't know if they've tested it themselves or not.

[You can't just say "this snake is poisonous" after all. You need to know what kind of venom it has, how potent it is, etc etc.]

Well, that and most of them wouldn't sell me a poisonous snake anyway because I'm 11.

[He makes a face at that. Adults are so full of themselves.]

Well, most eleven-year-olds aren't capable of properly caring for a snake like that.
