It's party time on Deesuko Ballia but things get a little out of hand and the brave crew of the Katabami find out that sometimes partying too hard can have serious consequences.

In other words, apparently this is a harem anime now.

True, true, but some places are better suited to it than others!

[Even Ragna the Killjoyedge can't put a damper on Motochika's good mood when he's this much in his element (and this far into his cups.)]

After all, we're free to sail wherever we please on the Katabami, but there's not nearly enough room to build anything truly impressive. I can't store all the things I might need, after all, which is what Aeolipile would be for. Well, I suppose "all the things I might need" includes the beer and rum and wine I'd get from this island as well.

[He seems to have this all planned out.]

[Perhaps if it was anyone else, the fact he's putting so much thought into organization would be both reassuring and impressive, but considering what sort of things Motochika might have in mind here, Ragna isn't too thrilled.]

Bastard... You've got it all figured out already, don'tcha.

[He orders a drink from the bartender, resignation audible in his voice. If he's to be subjected to all this loud insanity around him, then he doesn't want to be sober anymore. Clearly, Motochika has been a terrible influence (pun not intended).]

Any other great ideas, genius?

Well, if I can figure out how to untether one island from the sea, perhaps I could free up both! I could build battlements around them and finally have a proper ship beneath my feet.

[Yes, he's advocating turning two islands into one boat. Sadly, this really only on the larger end of the sort of ships Motochika usually builds and not anything out of the ordinary for him at all.]

It would greatly increase our numbers as well!

[For all the weird things present in his world, island-sized ships full of deadly traps are not among them, and as such Ragna finds the idea completely crazy. Unfortunately, he also knows Motochika well enough by now to realize he's absolutely serious.]

What? No! You can't just steal an island and its people! That's impossible! And insane! Not to mention immoral!

[Because Ragna of all the people gets to claim the moral high ground here. Sure thing.]

I'm a pirate! None of that matters! If I say I can do it, then don't doubt that it can be done. It may well be that no other man could manage it, but I haven't the slightest bit of doubt in my own ability.

[If nothing else, Motochika's ego is completely indestructible. Even if he doesn't completely believe what he's saying at the start, he usually ends up saying it enough that he convinces himself. In this case, he at least knows for certain that he can build the sort of ship he's planning. It's detaching islands from the ocean floor that he hasn't figured out yet. Still, with the right amount of time, tools and manpower, he figures he should be able to make it happen.]

You're not listening to a word I'm saying...

[Ragna just shakes his head in response. He figures it's no use trying to convince Motochika what a terrible idea it is (he might be more successful talking to a wall here), so he can only hope he won't remember it by tomorrow morning.]

So how good of an engineer are you, anyway?

[He used to think it was just a hobby, but the more he hears about it, the more serious it seems. Or at least as serious as huge spider-like robots can get.]

The best there is! It's a damn shame that I can't work on the scale I'd like to. You should see what I can whip up when I have proper resources at my disposal! Tiny things like the Rising Sun are what I used to guard my bigger projects, after all.

[And the Rising Sun is...not small. There's really no definition of "small" that can apply to the Rising Sun.]

[He gives Motochika the most deadpan of looks.]

Y'know, I've no idea why I even bothered asking.

[Ragna suspects the answer would be the same no matter what his actual level of proficiency was─ and regardless of what skill he'd asked about, for that matter. Although to be perfectly fair, judging by his creations... his confidence might be justified for once.]

"Rising Sun"? ... You mean that hideous spider-like thing?

[If so, that may be the biggest possible mismatch as far as naming goes. And description, too, because like hell he'd call that "tiny".]

If by "hideous" you mean "grotesque and fearsome," then aye!

[He's going to choose to take that as a compliment, even though it probably isn't meant to be one. One day Ragna will learn to talk about things without insulting them, surely.]

I try to keep a couple about on the ship with enough materials to build one or two ashore if we land, but they're really meant to scare off the weak-hearted and assure that only the boldest of opponents make it to the truly fearsome stuff. And then to myself, of course, if they manage to survive all that.

[It's no fun if he doesn't get to gloat, after all.]

Actually, I meant something more among the lines of "an unholy lovechild of an extremely ugly pug and a crippled scorpio that has run into a wall at full speed while running away after seeing its own reflection in a mirror" level of hideous, but suit yourself.

[That day is not today. And that was an... awfully specific and colorful description.

Truth is, Ragna asked because he has (very briefly) considered the possibility of turning to Motochika for... help (as much as he hates the thought), should his left arm ever require maintenance. It doesn't look like it would be necessary, but forewarned is forearmed (pun intended) and stuff. Now that he's heard what kind of things the captain usually builds, he's not so sure anymore.]

... So you're trying to tell me you sit in your castle or whatever guarded by all those?

[You know where he's going with this, don't you.]

Ship, not castle. Well, I keep a few around the fortress at Nakatomigawa, of course, since that's where I get a lot of my building done, but I tend not to make too many improvements around the castle. Most of the retainers there served my father, so they're not quite as amenable to my way of doing things.

[Apparently, he's willing to shrug off insults to the Rising Sun's appearance. It's supposed to be fearsome-looking, after all, and it's not entirely Ragna's fault that he's incapable of appreciating art. If he'd insulted Pi-chan or Yo-chan, that would be an entirely different story.]

[One cannot expect too much of an artistic sense from the man who names his attacks INFERNO DIVIDER and the like. Ragna kind of wants to tell him he shouldn't be surprised there actually are some sane people out there who think his ideas are crazy, but at this point it feels like Motochika's ego is invincible, so he gives up on that.]

... You sure that's still a ship and not a small city?

[Because, again, Rising Sun is not tiny.]

It floats, so by definition it's a ship! That's how I see it, anyway. I suppose the size isn't so different, but I would imagine a city would need a bit more people in it than I generally take with me when I go to sea.

[He needs a lot of space for the spinning saws and walls of spikes.]
