Intro Log: April 2015

WELCOME NEW CHARACTERS!
Have an intro log for the month of April!

Who: Any and all new characters, as well as anyone hanging out on or around Isla Empieza!
Where: Near the fountain in the town center.
When: New characters will arrive around April 9th! The log is good for as long as you need it.
What: You've just been dropped on your head in a weird new world. Time to figure out what the heck is going on!
Status: VERY OPEN.

Spring has arrived in Empieza! The days are cool and occasional thunderstorms growl through the night. If the citizens of Empieza seem more anxious than usual, it's because of the pirates that aggressively roam the streets, hunting for fresh meat -- either for shanghaiing or sport. If you don't wish to be coerced to sail under the flag of Ammon the Bloody, it's best to stay out of their way.

Feel free to throw your characters here if you need a place for them to get situated and start figuring things out! Start new threads, tag into others, meet the people who might just become part of your crew! Older characters will be in and out, too, depending who is on the island at the current time.

I don't think if you come from the darkness you can have light.

That's...what's going to happen to me. It's not fair because I didn't ask for any of that. I didn't ask to exist, even when I shouldn't. So why?

But I was the darkness in his heart. We share a heart. Even if it's mostly his.

It's not fair. But you exist now. You shouldn't have to stop for someone else.

[He feels.... he's not sure. This boy was about to go through what he did. It makes him angry, for reasons he can't explain. He grabs Roxas' shoulder]

I won't let that happen. Just because we're not light doesn't mean we don't have the right to live!

[Roxas looks up, nodding a little. He does exist now and he shouldn't have to stop doing that. He wants to be with his best friend, not asleep, vanished into thin air.]

DiZ and Namine told me I don't. If I don't go back, Sora will stay asleep and Sora is more important than me. He has to save the world or something.

I don't want to care about any of that. I want to live. I want to be with my best friend every day and eat sea salt ice cream.

Screw them and the world! The world isn't worth saving anyways.

As my ally, I'm going to make sure you get to do that.

[Okay, he's really not sure what's going, but he has these... emotions that he can't name for Roxas. Protective? Like Terra was for Ventus? That makes him seethe with jealousy for a moment. Another thing that Ventus had that he didn't]

I don't care about the worlds. Sora's the one that wants to save everyone. I just want a future.

[He worries at his lip, sighing a little.]

How? Can I do it if I'm not a whole person? What if I'm really making my own heart?

I don't know. I'm not a whole person either...

[Making his own heart? That's the first Vanitas has ever heard such a thing]

We'll make it work. Somehow.

[He smiles at that because that kind of confidence, he needs it when it comes to this subject.]

My best friend said he'd save me, and my dad here wants to do...I don't know, some time traveling thing, I don't get it. I'm worried it won't work, but if we can stop it...

Time travel, bah. Xehanort liked that crap.

I don't know... I'll think of something.

[Except Vanitas isn't really much of a planner. At all]

...You have a dad?

[Roxas isn't either. Clearly their plans will end well.]

Yeah, sort of. He picked me!

[He grins.]

If you meet Marco, he's pretty awesome. He's the captain of the Spades. He says he's strong but I don't know about that, I was sparring with him and the keyblades made him run away. He was scared of them. He's a phoenix, which is cool because he's soft and fluffy and awhile ago he decided I can be his son.

[Not a real dad by any means, but someone he can turn to when his mind blows up on him.]

[clearly this will be a disaster of some sort]

You got adopted by a bird?

Yeah, sort of! It's pretty cool. He's taken me flying.

[Which is very impressive.]

[He feels envious of Roxas now, but no where near how he feels towards Ventus. Both of them had parental figures that cared for them (though he takes perverse pleasure in the fact Ventus' master tried to kill him in the end) while he had Xehanort]

Flying's cool. I'd like to meet him.

[That's okay! Roxas is happy to share his father figure if Vanitas wants.]

I'll make sure you do! He'll probably be surprised you look like Sora.

[He smiles a little.]

But better. Not so...innocent I guess? I don't know. Enough I don't think of him when I see you, not really. I don't know if he'll take you flying, but he's really cool. He always has candy, do you like candy?

[Raises an eyebrow. Not so innocent? That's putting it mildly.]

I...I've never had candy.

[His eyes go so wide and he grabs for Vanitas' hand.]

Come on, come on! I have all kinds of places to show you!

[He's been there. He needs to share the all important knowledge of really delicious food.]

[And suddenly, Vanitas is being dragged along. He doesn't know what's happening. The last person to touch was... He didn't even remember a time where someone held is hand.]

Where are you taking me?

I have to get you some candy! You're going to like it. And the bakery too because they have the best doughnuts here and I wanted some anyway.

[Roxas knows a lot about the consumption of sugar.]

And if you're hungry, there's a good meatstick vendor too!

[He is hungry, but he's more confused and overwhelmed than anything.]

What's a doughnut?

It's like a cake, but covered in sugar or icing. It's sweet too, just a different way to eat sugar.

[He can see the look, and man is he ever familiar with it.]

Sorry. Too fast?

[He squeezes the hand lightly. Roxas means well, but he knows what it 's like to be overwhelmed. He doesn't handle it well at all.]

No, it's fine.

...I've never had cake either.

[He looks down at their hands, not sure what to make of this]

Come on, we're not far.

[Helpfully tugs Vanitas in that direction gently and walks towards a bakery.]

Gaius told me about this place, and I went the last couple of times we came here!

I guess I could try it.

[He lets go of Vanitas' hand once he reaches the bakery. Roxas is the greedy sort, he orders a dozen assorted doughnuts in a box and as soon as they're out of there, he opens it, holding the box out to Vanitas.]

Anything you want.

[Looks at the doughnuts, then reaches in and picks a chocolate one and takes a bite]

[Oh. Oh this is good]

Wow...

[Roxas himself picks out a glazed one with fruit filling and takes a big bite. He has to lick glaze off his lips. He grins at Vanitas.]

This shop has the best doughnuts I've found!
