Happy Days, Zombie Nights
Who: Hazmats!
Where: at sea and at Arco da Vella
When: June.
What: zombies. Also exploring Arco and seeing its own brand of weirdness, looking for treasure, etc.
Warnings: maybe some zombie violence
Style: whatever
Status: closed to Hazmats
The Nightfury leaves Li Yu Tiao after the festival and after a little aimless sailing, settles on a course southeast to Arco da Vella, mainly to follow rumors of treasure and to do visit somewhere they haven't been before. By the time they turn onto this week-long journey, it's already June, and the Dog's warnings about something coming catch up to them before they land.
At sea the night of the 15th when the first zombies attack, it becomes even more imperative to make it to land. Because of course, it would never happen on land, right? Wrong. Plus, when they get there, the strange colorless nature of Arco da Vella shows itself, not that it's as dangerous or deadly as zombies but it's just one thing after another around here.
[date your threads, have some fun!]

just...forwarded it a bit
[She looks up at her captain and tugs at his pant sleeve. Please sit down, she needs to talk to you about something.]
Hey Captain, have you read Marco's new journal entry lately?
yosh!
[obeys the tugging and flops down in the grass. Nice green fragrant grass.]

[Which wasn't much of a surprise, really. After a year in this place, who wouldn't want to head home, right?]

[he turns slightly toward her, leaning an elbow on one knee.]
I know I've told you 'bout Orochi and bein' in his demon world. All of my countrymen are there - my lords, Sun Jian and Sun Quan, my best friend, new allies I've made from Wa, all of 'em. We're all stuck in Orochi's world, while the gods of heaven try to figure out how to safely get us all back to our right times and places. It ain't a fun place, it's still a prison, but it's where I gotta go. In case one of his jerks resurrects him again, I gotta fight for Wu and for my friends.
And let me just say...if the gods of heaven all workin' together can't send us home from a demon dimension, I don't believe Marco can do shit. Davy Jones might well be a god or a demon, and maybe just like Orochi he can create a world without any way to break it. There's a lot I don't know, but I do know one thing: Marco ain't got that kinda power.

[Okay no, he doesn't know who Cyrus is and she really shouldn't bring up something like that right now. That might not be a story Ning would want to hear.]
I'm thinking about staying here with him, or where ever he would be once this is all over.
no subject
You really think that's even possible?

And if that ain't gonna happen, why even say it? Guy's completely off his nut as far as I'm concerned. I don't trust him. I don't believe him one bit. I want the best for us all but if there's one other way, besides the jewel, then there's other-other ways. Ones that don't run the risk of completely obliterating all of existence.

You'd think this world was at least nice enough to let us meet friends and go on this amazing adventure together.
[She sighs.]
I thought about staying with Marco because it would mean I could keep my memories of this place, of you and everyone else, for just a little bit longer. Secretly, I want his plan to work, and for everyone to go home and be happy. I never really realized, it was just me being as selfish as him.

You can stay if ya want. Or go with him, whatever. It's your choice. I ain't tellin' nobody they can't. I know it's gonna suck to go anywhere and not remember any of this, but...I been steeled against that since day one.
It's funny, yanno? How us bein' here is pretty much exactly like all my countrymen bein' stuck in Orochi's world. Same thing's probably gonna happen if the gods can sort it out. Fu Xi said as much to me, but none of us are askin' 'em not to do it, because we know it ain't right. It's against the natural order of things. Death and life, heaven and hell. Can't be stopped, not by all the wishful thinkin' in the universe.

Yeah, I guessed. [not that he's going to do anything about it.] S'okay. I know we've been through a lotta ups and downs, but you're still here. That's somethin'.

[Stuff which she will now count out with her fingers.]
I mean there were the mood swings, the navy, their captains, the spiders, the zombies, the minotaur, the kraken, that crazy storm, death day, that time you turned into a voiceless mist, the shit I put you through during the summit, the mirror room at that doll house, that time we got drunk together, those angry natives...all though, Leo was the one who saved me from that last one, so I'm not sure you count. I just hope it was all worth it.
[She playfully bumps his shoulder.]
Plus you managed to do the one thing my elites never got to do. They'd be really jealous if they even found out you got me to drink.
no subject
It's been a crazy ride, eh? And now zombies, and who knows what else is next. Not the race, I don't think...unless you guys wanna. But we're havin' zombies every night like some kinda damn bug infestation, I'm too tired to get the ship ready to race.

[She makes a face and pinches his arm. Meanie!]
I drank lots of wine back home. I'm just not used to your kind of literal poison. Emphasis on literal. What do you even put in that gourd wine? Rubbing alcohol!?
[As if Kitty knew what rubbing alcohol was. But she won't like, his literal poison did taste pretty good. It should just come with a warning label.]
I'm sure we won't have another race this year. With all these weird things happening right now? I'd rather sit it all out and just stay on this island until a zombie eventually kills me, or this infestation ends. Whatever comes first.

He settles back down and shakes his head.]
I ain't lettin' zombies kill anybody. Even if we have to lock ourselves in one cabin all night long and take turns keepin' watch, we're comin' out alive.
no subject
[Which was totally a good idea. A month's worth of sober Captain Ning? Cynthia would pay good money to see that, just to know how that'd turn out. Also, clearly Ning's never seen horror movies.]
Locking ourselves in a cabin? Is that even safe?
no subject
Safer'n fighting all night until we're all exhausted.
no subject
Good point...ok I've decided. No more alcohol for you.
