nope... this won't end badly at all.
Who: Sora and Riku, at first; then, all other Spade Pirates.
Where: Spade Pirates' ship
When: 22nd-end of event
What: Ghost ships go "we're gonna geeeet yooou", Riku and Sora go "WTF", Sorasays "Screw this, I need a vacation." then gets hit by Insta-Death.
Style: Starting in prose, but also accomodating.
Warnings: Death is a thing here.
Status: Open to all Spades, yep.
The day started out normally. They were all back on the ship, everyone was back into their routines, and all was well. As it got later in the day, Sora heard someone shouting. By the time he looked up, the ship was already being covered in what looked very much like fog--only problem was, it was way thicker than any fog he'd ever seen. It took... 'blanket of fog' to a whole new level in meaning.
It was definitely weird, to say the least.
Everyone had pretty much gotten quiet, after that. What little sound Sora could hear sounded strange. It was almost as though he had a ton of cotton jammed into his ears. Still, though, he was moving--blind, or not--through the white barrier, of sorts. Slowly navigating, he made a valiant effort to find his friends.

He thought he'd seen Sora come this way, though -- or at least, he could hear some of the others stumbling around and he hoped one of them was Sora.
Also, he was pretty sure the railing of the ship was somewhere nearby, so he was kind of hoping he didn't misjudge where he was stepping and somehow go tumbling off the ship.
That would suck.
After a few more minutes of blindly trying to find his friend, he finally tentatively called out, "Hey, anyone there? Sora?"
no subject
Putting on a frustrated face, he held both arms out--better to jab someone with a hand, than walk face-first into them, right?
Right. Fortunately, it didn't take long for blue eyes to land on what appeared to be a familiar silhouette, of sorts. Making his way closer, he called out.
"Riku?"
no subject
"Whoa, hey."
He grabbed one of Sora's wrists and held on loosely, like he wanted to make sure he didn't lose him again. Even when he was right there, it was still a little hard to see him clearly.
"Geez." He laughed a little. "That is you, right? This is kind of crazy."
no subject
Sora knew who it was, but he still reached up and patted the older teen's face--pretty much in nothing more than a joking manner. Yep. That would be Riku's face. He grinned a bit, letting out his own laugh, before lowering his hand.
"Yeah, it's me," he said as he grinned a bit. "Well, at least we found each other, right?"
no subject
"Of course we did."
Riku squinted at the fogginess around them.
"Hopefully Kairi and the others are okay. Have you seen anyone else?"
no subject
"No, actually. I heard people. But, most of them sounded like they were all on the other side of the ship..."
He sighed and let his hand falls, "What about you?"
no subject
"Nothing. I thought I heard someone walking around? But...that might've just been you."
He crossed his arms, looking out to sea (or where he was pretty sure the sea was), but there wasn't anything but fog. Riku huffed out a breath.
"Actually, it's...really quiet. Have you noticed? Even the water..."

REST OF THE CREW!
...There may be a little ship damage in the process. HE IS NOT IN HIS RIGHT MIND OKAY.]

Natsuno had no idea what happened exactly, but it wasn't good. A knot formed in his stomach, and he ran in the direction of the sound. There were, what looked like meteors falling from the sky and when the fog broke and he could see Riku, he almost paused. He looked furious.
Whatever was going on, Riku was going to damage the ship and that would be a problem. He crossed the distance between him and made an effort to grab his arm. His tone was insistent, even loud, unlike his usual manner of speaking. "Riku!"
no subject
When Natsuno made another grab for him, getting a hand on his arm, Riku came very close to slamming the end of the Keyblade into his gut.
"Get off," he snarled, but then it clicked that someone was holding him, there was someone else out here, and the ghosts were still lingering around—
He turned halfway, still tense and not quite meeting Natsuno's eyes.
"Get out of here!" he said, his voice hoarse. "Dammit, go back inside, don't let these things touch you!"
no subject
He hadn't noticed Sora's body through the fog, but he could tell Riku was hurting. He looked at the ghosts. He wasn't exactly afraid of them, they were just stupid ghosts.
He spun around and stood in front of him with his arms out. "Stop." He ordered again.
no subject
"We can't just run away from them!" he shouted. "They have to be dealt with, we have to find a way to destroy them before they kill the rest of us!"
no subject
He was cut off in surprise as a ghostly hand pierced through his chest and the ghost retreated. He raised a hand to his chest. Natsuno felt so strange. Soft fur appeared on his hand, growing out of seemingly nowhere.

Of course, he hasn't noticed the body, just Riku going London Blitz on the ghost ship. Which...is probably the least surprising thing out tonight.
"Riku, stop it," is his immediate response, voice edged with concern and maybe a hint of command he knows will be ignored. The tip of the sonic screwdriver begins to glow, a buzzing sound filling the air as he moves it in precise jerks, deflecting incoming meteors and other magical backlash from the boy's berserk rampage. If nothing else, he'll keep the ship from sinking!
"Snap out of it! You'll sink us if you don't stop!"
no subject
Because the fact that there's suddenly someone else there, someone solid and human and alive, manages to penetrate the furious haze that's taken hold of his brain. And it'd probably be best if he didn't go hitting his crew mates.
The abrupt change of plans in the middle of his attack has him stumbling and falling to one knee, but he looks up quickly and shouts across to the Doctor, "Don't let them touch you!"
Then he's up and swinging around again, trying to slice at a ghost that gets a little too close for comfort.
no subject
"Riku, we need to get inside. Now! There's too many to fight like this."
no subject
He sends a blast of fire through another ghost, which of course does nothing except nearly catch the rigging before it dissipates out over the water.
"They just—Sora was—"
Riku clenches his teeth and squeezes his eyes shut, trying to keep himself under control. It only partly works before he brokenly screams again, and abruptly plunges his Keyblade into the deck of the ship.
The wood doesn't break, or even splinter from the impact, though. It just flashes for a second, dark energy pooling together around the Keyblade before columns of it suddenly shoot up into all the ghosts surrounding them.
no subject
The Doctor lets out an angry bellow and grabs Riku's hand, pulling him back, the dark energy not even phasing him. Not the weirdest thing he'd seen tonight, after all. The screwdriver lashes out with more sound, driving away another ghost that was rushing them.
"It won't do you any good to die here. Nobody else is going to die if I can help it, now get moving!"

"Shit."
He charged across the deck, sliding as he kicked Riku's legs out from under him, then grabbing him by the waist and twisting, bringing the boy across him to let him crash against the deck on his other side, hopefully jarring him out of his rage and preventing these bastards from touching him.
"Everyone get below before you all get killed!" he bellowed.

Riku's eyes widened, his arms flailing out inelegantly as his feet were swept right out from under him. The world twisted as he was flipped around, and then suddenly he was hitting the ground hard, the breath completely knocked out of him.
Unfortunately, despite Thatch's efforts, as he was being slammed down his hand passed straight through one of the oncoming ghosts. Not that Riku even noticed at first—he couldn't breath anyway from hitting the ground like that, so his body seizing up on him, the sudden burst of pain that flashed through him, none of it really overly concerned him. He struggled against Thatch, pushing at him, trying to get him off, when suddenly.
Suddenly he kind of didn't want him to get off anymore.
In fact, it was fine if he stayed right where he was, distracted, head turned away to yell at the others. It left the side of his neck wide open, perfect for—
What the hell.
Riku abruptly stopped moving. As in, completely. Totally. Even that not being able to breath thing, that wasn't an issue anymore.
Vampires don't didn't need to breathe.

In reality, Ace had every inclination to try and destroy the ghost ship, but it was right in the middle of theirs. Ace, rushing up out of the galley, landed on the deck and ran to the edge, drawing his right hand back. Above all else, the end result of Sora being touched had been death.
No one else was going to die. His eyes livid, Ace ignited his hand and went with the quickest means of escape. Hurling his gigantic fiery fist into the water, Ace pushed the Sun up in the air, literally straight out of the sea itself. Pushing forward, Ace dragged his fiery hand against the surface of the water to clear visible strain on his face as he made moves to push them clear away from the ghost ship.]
SAILS! SOMEONE CAST THEM DOWN SO I CAN PUT AIR IN THEM!
HOLD RIKU DOWN AND I'LL GET US OUT OF HERE!

And if anyone glances his way right about now, they might notice that some of his teeth are suddenly a bit...long.]
no subject
Got it! [he snarls it, not that he has another choice, and tucks Riku under one arm, keeping his arms pinned at his sides as he uses his other hand to shake one of the sails loose]
Get to work, idiots!
no subject
He's also not really in his right mind and doesn't need his arms at the moment, as he pretty suddenly has other methods of attack at his disposal.
Like those fangs that are sinking into Thatch's bicep right about now.]

[Marco doesn't even bother half transforming or flying, since that would bring him closer to the ghosts, he just jumps, climbs and gets the sails going with a quick burst of blue flames to catch a meteor now and then. How reminiscent of Akainu. Well, this was one ship Marco could afford to protect.]
Let's go, Ace! [As if the hot-head wasn't already hurrying as best as he could.]
