What: SORA IS DEAD, Riku is a vampire, basically this week has sucked. :|
Warnings: Depressed Riku, I guess -- trying to keep his mopey lame times contained in one place, haha.
Style: Whichever! But I'm probably sticking with [brackets].
Status: Closed to the crew, whoever is interested (if anyone, totally cool if you want to avoid Riku being pathetic everywhere lol).


[Riku is basically either holed up in his and Sora's room, staring blankly at nothing, or he's up in the crow's nest, watching the sea. He'll still do whatever duties he has around the ship, of course, but his brain is totally elsewhere and overall he's not going out of his way to talk to anyone really. Save maybe Kairi if she's around.

Also that whole bloodlust thing? Yeah. He's ignoring it. And ignoring the need to eat or drink anything at all, really. WHO NEEDS SUSTENANCE. 8D]

[Korra's taken the time to roast up some fish a la firebending, but now that it's all ready to eat... she doesn't much feel like it. Sighing, she's shuffling on her way back to her cabin when she notices the light on in Riku's room. She's heard the news by now.

It's been a rough week, but that's especially true for him. She can't imagine...

She hesitates by the door, teeth clinched and fingers tight on the tray. They may not have formally met yet, but after what's happened...]

Riku? Mind if I come in?

[She's gotten a little more used to quiet, brooding guys like Riku. And it feels wrong just leaving him alone.]

[darknessinside]

[It's several seconds before he answers. He's tempted to stay silent and pretend he's asleep, except he's really not been sleeping much at all lately. Also, he recognizes her voice and, despite everything, he doesn't want to be too rude since they don't really know each other well yet.]

...Sure. Yeah, it's open.

[He'll be sitting up in his hammock when she comes in, and she might notice that while his half of the room is pretty orderly, the half that Sora used to occupy is...basically exactly as he left it, various clothing items dropped in random places and all.]

[rebonding]

[There's a sinking behind Korra's eyes as she walks in quietly, her gaze falling on Sora's messy side of the room. She swallows, struggling to force herself to look at Riku. She eases the door mostly shut behind her.]

...You want this...?

[She lifts the tray, indicating the fish.]

It's just fish, but...

[Maybe she shouldn't have come in. It hasn't been often in Korra's life that she's had to deal with death, but she knows that Riku and Sora had been close. And this vampire business doesn't even begin to make sense to her.]

[Follows her line of sight and winces a bit -- he keeps meaning to...organize it or something, but he's having a hard time making himself touch any of Sora's things.

Then he eyes the fish, and he thinks normally it would seem very appetizing but right now it's a little too...dead and cooked.]

Ah...I'm really not hungry. But I appreciate the offer.

[The thought of a different meal, though...of the fresh blood pumping through Korra's veins...there's a burning want for that exploding in his gut quite abruptly, which he very stubbornly shoves aside.

Now he feels like he's being rude, though, so he forces himself to get up and move to the small, single table that's been converted into a nightstand of sorts, quickly clearing it off -- actually, he does all of this abnormally fast without even seeming to realize it. Hey, vampire super-speed!]

...Some company might be nice, though?

[He gestures awkwardly at the now free space on the table, if she wants to put the tray down.]

[rebonding]

[Korra nods. She hadn't been expecting a 'yes,' but it was worth a shot. The whole 'drinking blood' thing is still new to her.]

Only if you don't mind.

[She sets the tray on the table and leans lightly against the edge.]

You doin' okay? The whole... vampire thing?

[darknessinside]

I don't mind.

[He does put some distance between them, though, zipping to the other side of the room. Just in case.]

I'm...okay. I think.

[Takes a seat against the wall, all his movements unnaturally smooth and fluid.]

It's taking some getting used to.

[rebonding]

[Korra raises an eyebrow as he moves away from her. It can't be that bad, can it? No more than trying to resist a heaping bowl of fireflakes!

...Okay, bad example. She has no self control when it comes to food.]

Maybe we could make it go away... Once we complete the crystal. It grants any wish, right?

[Subtlety has always been one of Korra's weakest points, but she's wondering if Riku's thought about what other sorts of wishes they could grant with the completed gem. She's not about to bring up Sora, but...

Maybe at least give him the train of thought.]

[He looks up sharply, pinning her with an intense look.

He hadn't thought of that, actually. But.]

I...yeah, that's what we've been told. I think. You really think we could...?

[rebonding]

It's worth a try.

[She frowns, trying to push away the defeatedness that had reared its ugly head after the past few days.]

Everyone's talking about using it to get home, but if what they're saying is true, that's not all it's good for.

[darknessinside]

[Riku's thoughts are going a mile a minute now, trying to figure out if something like that would actually work. He tries not get his hopes up, but...it's hard.]

Would that be selfish, though? What if...what if we only get one wish?

[rebonding]

[Korra is silent for a short while, frowning at the floor and finding it difficult to look up at him. Yeah, it would be selfish if that were the case.]

Maybe we'll just have to see when we get there. Manipulate the wish or find a loophole. Say that we want everyone who was taken home safe just as they were... or something.

[That would solve all of their problems.]

[Blinks.]

...That's actually a really good idea.

[Look, he even manages to give her a small grin!]

You're smart. Something like that...you know, I think it would work!

[rebonding]

[Korra snorts. Smart? He's kidding, right?]

I dunno about smart, but... I guess we've just gotta think outside the box a little.

[But he's smiling! She lets her perplexity go, allowing a little smile of her own. They'll figure this out.]

I've always had a knack for... breaking rules, I guess.

I'm normally pretty good at it, too, but I completely forgot about the gem and the wishes.

[Crosses his arms behind his head and leans back against the wall.]

Probably because I've been so busy moping around everywhere.

[Looks a bit sheepish, like he knows he needs to snap out of his funk. Then he levels a curious look on her.]

Anyway, how are you doing? Looks like you managed to avoid getting hit by those ghosts, at least.

[rebonding]

[Korra's face falls. Too busy moping? His best friend just died, of course he's moping! She clinches her teeth and bites back her response to his former comment when he asks about her.]

I've been fine.

[Maybe it's for the better? Just avoid the topic?]

Frustrated, I guess, but no crazy curses. They definitely did something to my abilities, though. I can't do what I should be able to. It's... kinda hard to explain.

[She heaves a sigh, sinking down to the floor. Having access to the Avatar State during that fight for the shard would have ensured their victory, but that hadn't happened. Her connection, somehow, had been broken when she came here. That was the only explanation she could come up with.]

[Frowns a little, his eyebrows drawing together in confusion.]

Something to your abilities? [Thinks.] Hmm, you might not be the only one. A couple times since we've been here I've noticed...I can still do all my usual attacks, it's just. Something is different? I can't do as many. It's not an endurance thing either, just out of nowhere my energy will suddenly vanish. It's weird.

[rebonding]

[Korra perks up when Riku mentions his own problems.]

Weird... Back home, I have a connection with my past lives. I can harness it to talk to them, or use it to access their power all at once. Here... It's like someone's cut the connection.

[darknessinside]

Oh, cool. I've never heard of something like that before. Maybe it feels like the connection's been cut because of the whole different world thing? Your, uh...past lives, I mean, they're probably all there. Where you're from. Not here.

[rebonding]

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. They're usually a part of me, but my world is connected with the Spirit World, so I'm guessing it has something to do with that.

[She was supposed to learn that kind of stuff in her spiritual training.

...Oops.]

I handled myself fine without the boost for a while, but... I hate not having it now.

[Nods.]

It's frustrating not being able to do everything you're used to. And it could potentially be a problem... Hasn't sidelined me yet, but what if something happens right in the middle of a fight?

[rebonding]

That's what I'm worried about.

[Korra huffs.]

We won't know until it happens, so there's no point in worrying about it, but still...
