Who: Riku + Spade Pirates
Where: The ship.
When: Anytime during the Halloween Event!
What: SORA IS DEAD, Riku is a vampire, basically this week has sucked. :|
Warnings: Depressed Riku, I guess -- trying to keep his mopey lame times contained in one place, haha.
Style: Whichever! But I'm probably sticking with [brackets].
Status: Closed to the crew, whoever is interested (if anyone, totally cool if you want to avoid Riku being pathetic everywhere lol).
[Riku is basically either holed up in hisand Sora's room, staring blankly at nothing, or he's up in the crow's nest, watching the sea. He'll still do whatever duties he has around the ship, of course, but his brain is totally elsewhere and overall he's not going out of his way to talk to anyone really. Save maybe Kairi if she's around.
Also that whole bloodlust thing? Yeah. He's ignoring it. And ignoring the need to eat or drink anything at all, really. WHO NEEDS SUSTENANCE. 8D]

Hey.

He clears his throat before he speaks, but his voice still sounds a bit croaky.]
Hey, Yuuki.

Natsuno does not ask if Riku is okay, or how he's doing because there's no point, no good way to ask that. He crosses his arms and rests his chin on them as he sits quietly. If Riku wants to talk he will.]

You know, I used to do this back home for hours at a time. Before everything went to hell. Just watch the ocean and wish I was anywhere else but that island.
no subject
Didn't hurt to have a dream then.
no subject
I don't know if dream is the right word. On anyone else, or in another circumstance, sure, maybe. But for me, at the time, it was more this...dark, twisted need. And it just...
[Cringes a bit, dragging a hand over his face.]
It caused so many problems. I caused so many problems. God, I was such an asshole to him.
no subject
I don't think he thought that. From what I saw, he thought very highly of you, Riku.

It's been a rough week, but that's especially true for him. She can't imagine...
She hesitates by the door, teeth clinched and fingers tight on the tray. They may not have formally met yet, but after what's happened...]
Riku? Mind if I come in?
[She's gotten a little more used to quiet, brooding guys like Riku. And it feels wrong just leaving him alone.]
no subject
...Sure. Yeah, it's open.
[He'll be sitting up in his hammock when she comes in, and she might notice that while his half of the room is pretty orderly, the half that Sora used to occupy is...basically exactly as he left it, various clothing items dropped in random places and all.]
no subject
...You want this...?
[She lifts the tray, indicating the fish.]
It's just fish, but...
[Maybe she shouldn't have come in. It hasn't been often in Korra's life that she's had to deal with death, but she knows that Riku and Sora had been close. And this vampire business doesn't even begin to make sense to her.]
no subject
Then he eyes the fish, and he thinks normally it would seem very appetizing but right now it's a little too...dead and cooked.]
Ah...I'm really not hungry. But I appreciate the offer.
[The thought of a different meal, though...of the fresh blood pumping through Korra's veins...there's a burning want for that exploding in his gut quite abruptly, which he very stubbornly shoves aside.
Now he feels like he's being rude, though, so he forces himself to get up and move to the small, single table that's been converted into a nightstand of sorts, quickly clearing it off -- actually, he does all of this abnormally fast without even seeming to realize it. Hey, vampire super-speed!]
...Some company might be nice, though?
[He gestures awkwardly at the now free space on the table, if she wants to put the tray down.]
no subject
Only if you don't mind.
[She sets the tray on the table and leans lightly against the edge.]
You doin' okay? The whole... vampire thing?
no subject
[He does put some distance between them, though, zipping to the other side of the room. Just in case.]
I'm...okay. I think.
[Takes a seat against the wall, all his movements unnaturally smooth and fluid.]
It's taking some getting used to.

elsejoining Riku in the crow's nest, though not entirely on purpose. He just didn't see that Riku was up there before he decided to climb up and in. Surprise!]Ah...hey there, I didn't know anyone was up here already.
no subject
Sorry—I can leave, if you want.
[He sits up a little straighter, shifting and wincing a bit.]
Probably best, I've been up here...actually, I have no idea. Awhile.
no subject
[Won't steal Riku's hiding place.]
...You okay?
no subject
[Settles back down. Retreating to his room isn't all that appealing right now.
He shrugs in response to Vyse's question.]
Definitely been better.
no subject
[He's going to sit on the edge of the nest's railing, feet inside. This is a totally safe idea, yup.]
no subject
Not particularly.
[...But he's gonna talk about it anyway.]
It's just weird, you know? It doesn't feel real.

So hoped that she could be helpful.]
Riku... Is it okay if I come in?
no subject
Because geez, how selfish is he, he's been so caught up in his own grief that he nearly forgot Kairi was in exactly the same boat.
He's reaching for her as soon as the door is open, eyes wide, his expression a mix of apologetic and worried as one hand lands on her shoulder, the other clutching the door frame.]
Kairi—god, Kairi, I...
[I'm sorry?
I meant to check on you?
I can't believe I didn't check on you?
I can't believe this happened?
A thousand things he wants to say pile up in his throat, including about ten different ways to ask if she's okay, but of course he knows the answer to that one already.
Neither of them are okay.
In the end, he doesn't say anything. He just looks at her, feeling helpless, and then tugs her forward into an embrace.]
no subject
She slowly wrapped her around him, hoping that in a way it would help the both of them. Maybe it wouldn't fully but at least knowing they could at least stand by each other through such a difficult time might help.
She hoped. She really hoped.]
I'm sorry, Riku.
[And she was. She was sorry for many things. Not being right there at the time to help, not being to help at all. If this had taught her anything it's that death could happen to anyone, even someone she considered to be strong and that she was completely powerless to help or do anything useful and that scared her. She wanted to help, she wanted to stand with her friends and fight, but she couldn't like she was now and with that thought in her mind she buried her head slightly, the tears that she had tried to hide had started to flow.]
no subject
Maybe this is why he hadn't gone to find her, maybe even why he'd subconsciously been avoiding it a bit. It makes it all too real, too awful and final, and there's something squeezing painfully in his chest that's making it hard to breathe and suddenly he's not sure he can stand anymore.
So he doesn't, he uses the hand still clutching at the door frame to steady himself as he lowers the two of them to the ground, and then turns to collapse back against the wall. He gathers Kairi up, pulling her against his chest and wrapping his arms fully around her.]
...I'm sorry, too.
[The words are barely a whisper, his voice hoarse, and there's a burning behind his eyes that he tries to ignore as he squeezes them shut.]
no subject
With a snuffle, she moved one hand, using it to wipe away the tears before looking up slightly. What to say, or even do in this type of situation?]
I...I know that I wouldn't of been much help but... What's happened has made me realize that... In order to protect those I care about, I need to get better at fighting. [Her eyes glanced down to the floor, the tears had started to build up once more as she tried to force them not to.] But... [She moves her hand, putting it lightly on Riku's chest before moving to put the other on her own.]
Even though Sora... [She takes a deep breath, as much as she so wished it wasn't the case, someone had to say it.] Isn't with us anymore. He'll always be in our hearts and we'll always cherish every moment we had with him.
no subject
He can let Kairi talk, though. He can be there for her, at least. It's what Sora would have wanted.
So he just wearily nods, silently agreeing that he'll always be with them.
He can comment on the first part, though, in a low, gruff voice. Because it still makes him angry to think about.]
You couldn't have done anything.
[...Which comes out harsher than he'd intended. He takes a deep breath before speaking again.]
Sorry, I meant—fighting wouldn't have helped, it just. That thing just touched him. There wasn't a warning, there was no time—no chance to do a damn thing.
