[Akira yawned as he stepped off the boat, looking around at the scenery.]

Wonderful. It's cold and empty. Great choice in islands, fearless leader.

[In return for that, Akira has earned himself an eye roll.]

I don't see any other islands around here, do you?

[alwaysgrumpy]

Maybe we should just spin you around really fast and go in whatever direction you're pointing when you fall down.

Maybe you should focus on finding a way out of this world?

What am I, a scientist? You're the guy who knows the weird stuff, not me. I'm just here to watch your asses and make sure we don't get eaten by anything.

[Ed rolls his eyes again.]

Sure, sure. I'm not that worried about that.

[alwaysgrumpy]

I wasn't that worried about ghost ships. Not until we actually saw them. It's never the problem you plan for that ends up happening.

I'm not the kind of guy that does a lot of planning. I kind of just do what needs doing at the time.

[Winry hops off The Panthress and onto the dock, shivering. It's chilly here, and she's not really dressed for it.]

Yeah, usually by the seat of your pants.

[alwaysgrumpy]

Maybe that's kind of a problem, considering we're all in a strange new place. A little forethought could work wonders. Plan to make life easy.

Remember when we got hit by ghosts? Who decided to put everyone in an away-boat and run? Me.

Not really my style. [Ed shrugs at him.]

Yeah, and it was a good idea. We survived, didn't we?

Told you the boat would be fine when we got back to it.

[Winry rolls her eyes.]

Are you two done congratulating yourselves? I want to see what's out there!

[Ed rolls his eyes right back.]

Whatever Winry, fine, let's go.

[alwaysgrumpy]

Hey, you can lead if you want, lady. Choose a direction.

[hands4healing]

Great! Let's go that way! [She points at one of the paths leading away from the dock.]

Lead the way.

[Ed shrugs at her and puts his hands in his pockets.]

Can't be that bad.

[alwaysgrumpy]

[Akira brings up the rear, whistling a little tune to himself as he follows along.]

[Winry wobbles for a few steps, but gets her land legs back. There's a dusting of snow on the ground closest to the water, but signs of deeper snow ahead, in the port city.]

I think I need a heavier jacket. I hope the locals are friendly enough we can buy things!

It's not that bad.

[Okay, that's a lie. Ed breathes into his hands a bit.] Not as bad as Briggs anyway. I hope it warms up soon.

[Akira sighs like it's the most exasperating thing in the world, then strips off his coat and hands it to Winry.]

There. All warmed up, now stop complaining.

[hands4healing]

[Winry accepts it, hesitating before sliding it on. It's too big, of course, but it's very warm.]

Thank you, Akira!

[She bows her head to him.]

[Edward glances between them and pointedly looks away with a little huff.]

Anyway you can probably buy something warm on this island, I hope.

[alwaysgrumpy]

I'm sure you guys will get by. I have an abnormally high body temperature, anyway. It'll have to get much colder before I ever feel it.

[hands4healing]

We'll warm up walking, anyway. And I bet there's something to eat up there that might not be fish!

[Winry nudges Edward with her elbow as she walks by, and grins at Akira, though it's more of a studied smile than anything.]

How much colder? I mean, is your metabolism higher because of the.

[She thinks, trying to figure out how to say it without alerting anyone they were walking past what Akira is.]

Um. Your condition!

Well if there is, then we should get supplies if we can. I don't want to run out of anything.

[He rolls his eyes at Winry's nudging, but he tilts his head curiously to hear the answer.]

[alwaysgrumpy]

Pretty much. Inherited, like everything else.

Is it me, or are the people here dressed funny?

[hands4healing]

That's amazing!

[Winry glances around. Were the people here dressed odd? They looked warm, at least.]

[fullmetal_heart]

I didn't really notice.

[Ed blinks and shrugs. Fahion's not much of his thing, and if anyone's dressed strangely, he can't really tell.]

I'm not sure that matters so much as searching the island for a place to leave, and I suppose getting warm clothing.

November 18

[hands4healing]

[Winry finishes tying down a water barrel so it won't roll around on deck. She steps back, fishes her gloves out of her pockets, and puts them on. The deck looks pretty clear, and she's purchased all the supplies they can afford at the moment. She'd traded two of the fish that Akira had caught the other day for fresh fruit and vegetables.

There's nothing more she can do until Edward says they're ready to leave.]

[After enduring he's done a full sweep of the island again for Akira, and for signs of alchemy or some other route home, he climbs up onto the deck.]

Alright, everything good?

[hands4healing]

Mm! I have stores to last us for a while, and I salted the fish for - for storage. [She stumbled over thinking Akira caught the fish.]

The wind's pretty good, too.

Seems like a good time to leave then. I looked all over for him once more, but, he's not here. Apparently he used the Nav and left. From there...I don't know. Come on, let's get the sails ready.

[hands4healing]

[Winry sighs through her nose. She's worried about Akira, but they haven't seen anyone from the Navy on Hammelin. Ed's probably right.]

Okay.

[She starts releasing the sails from their ties.]
