[01] burning burning burning
Who: Uchiha Buttface Sasuke, making land
Where: Isla Empieza
When: November 18th
What: A lot of fire, a giant purple kinna ghosty-looking guy, and probably a lot of rudeness. Mod-approved destruction of market buildings and possibly harbour pieces.
Warnings: Violence?
Style: Any! I'm happy to continue in log or switch to action style. :D
Status: Open
Sasuke had known that Obito and Madara weren't sane well before he'd heard the details of the Eye of the Moon plan, but he hadn't realized the extent to which they had planned out their madness. His first instinct on waking had been to burn that joke of a message out of hand, but second thought had made him consider the likelihood of one or both of them having left a clue in it -- whichever one had somehow managed to activate the Infinite Tsukuyomi.
That had left him with his second instinct: destruction.
If this was meant to be the illusion of eternal obedience and peace, it shouldn't have been as easy as it was to activate his own Mangekyou and summon Susano'o's flesh and bones, purple chakra swallowing up the town square with ease and -- a certain amount of drain that was unusual, but not entirely expected after how much chakra he'd been using lately.
After that, it was barely any chakra at all to start a fire: just a regular blaze for now, catching the scraggly plant life lining the square with ease and licking up the walls.
Voice venomous, he lifted one of Susano'o's humongous fists and smashed it down onto the ridiculous fountain, cracking its stone rim and spilling water in a steady leak. How will you maintain the peace now, Madara?

INTERRUPT !!
It was almost like a force of nature, but it made no difference. Such needless destruction was unacceptable, and he was not the sort of captain to tolerate any sort of aggression directed at what was his.
"Shade!"
A flicker of blue darted toward Jade and Luke at his firm command, and a tiny creature made of the condensed, purified energy of Mercury raised a frozen barrier against the lightning-laced blades. It wasn't a perfect defense, but it made the point clear:
Beware, stranger. There is more than one water-user on the island, and this one needs no time to cast.

"What should we do?" he asked Jade softly, serious for once. "Retreat?"
...as much as he hated to admit it, he knew he was toast if he had to fight this guy. He made Sync look slow, and the only reason he had even managed a block at all was because he had his sword in hand.
no subject
This could get tricky.
"We can't match his speed, so melee attacks are out of the question. But..." Jade glanced in Piers' direction. As long as they stayed apart, their enemy had more than one target to focus on. If they could get him to go after one of them, the other might get a clear shot... Assuming he would fall for that simple a trick.
The brief respite given by the ice barriers was over. Jade began casting once again -- no long-winded incantations this time, even if that would cost him strength. At the very least it would force the enemy to act.

Nothing he could hear of their conversation told him anything beyond the perfect obviousness of what was going on right now, in any case -- which meant there was little purpose in easing his attacks to permit later interrogation.
The first man had resumed his jutsu, but it had already become clear that whatever it was, it took time to complete. The red-haired one was the weakest link, and the newcomer a mostly unknown quantity, but clearly another water manipulator. As loathe as he was to admit it, this much water without a bolstering wind user meant his regular fire techniques would be mostly a waste of chakra.
That left him with lightning and a growing supply of water to use it with. Dropping to the ground again and splashing into a puddle from the first globe of water, he focused his chakra to the surface, letting Chidori begin to spark and chirp over his skin. If either of the water users tried another jutsu, there would be enough to conduct.

The shift in the stranger's energy from something resembling a Mars alignment to a Jupiter alignment put Piers on edge. It was dangerous with all of the water that remained in the area from Jade's artes, but Piers knew that the lightning needed to be stopped before it even started.
He moved on instinct, calling up a torrent of massive ice crystals to hurtle toward the stranger in his Diamond Dust technique.
It was the most he could do at such a distance. Speed was not his forte.

...dammit, that was so uncool.
He watched the cascade of ice come out at the weirdo that was going bonkers, before he charged forward through the hail, trying to anticipate where this guy would end up and be sure to be there to keep him away from the spell casters.

"O maddening gale of the spirits of the earth... Stalagmite!"
The ground below the enemy's feet rumbled and sharp, hulking spikes of rock broke out, easily exceeding a man's height. Between the ice raining from above, earth erupting from below and Luke charging from the side, they had the enemy surrounded.
He just hoped Luke knew what he was doing.

Though their companion perhaps was. Avoiding the earth jutsu had thrown Sasuke directly into the path of the redhead running at him. There was no clear intent written in his chakra except that of disruption, but his presence was nonetheless an irritation: twisting his body as he landed, Sasuke dropped low and swung out in a sweeping kick toward the ankles, pivoting on his injured leg.
omg im sorry for taking forever!!
Piers called out to warn his young companion from his distance in warning of the attack. Though the young man was headstrong, Piers didn't know how well he could fight-- and this stranger, whomever he was, clearly was stronger than he appeared.
There was no way for Piers to directly help Luke from his distance, but he could try to contain the stranger. A frozen aura chilled the air as Piers drew upon the energies that were yet available to him, and with a motion of his hand he threw down a wall of ice.
He didn't want the stranger causing more havoc than he already was.
It's okay!
...well, except there was a sudden wall of ice drawing his attention away and shit that was cold.
And then my Internet goes down...
Jade made to begin another arte, only to stagger as his vision swam. Though the dizzy spell only lasted for a moment, the cause was clear -- too many strong artes one after another with little fonon sources around was too much even for him.
The others would have to buy him some time to recover. Hopefully they could manage it before their opponent got back on his feet.
Fate conspires against us
The steam of initial impact was enough to obscure the entire area -- working to hide any exhausted stumbles from Sasuke's sight as well as to let him leap unseen onto the top of a remaining wall, skimming across it with silent footsteps to where the chakra signature of the newcomer still pulsed with strength.
This was the one who kept interfering. He needed to get rid of him before the others.
unfortunately...
Piers bit back a frustrated growl when the steam rose. He suspected that something like this would happen, but it was only a measure to buy Luke some protection and Jade some time to cast his artes. As an Adept with limited powers, the ice was his primary strength.
Unfortunately, it was no working against all of them.
Blinded by the steam, Piers drew his broadsword as a defensive measure and set forth along the ice. There was nothing that Piers could do while all of the water was still airborn.
Stillness would be deadly with the stranger's speed.
...isn't this usually how it ends up?
Luke did the only thing he could think of; there was plenty of water around between Jade and Piers. He launched himself toward the weirdo, trying to pull in some of those fonons from all that water. He just had to pull in some fonons and...
...
Wait, why wasn't it working?!
"J-Jade!" he yelped. "The Fields of Fonons aren't working right!"
we're getting this done even if it takes us another year!!
No time to wonder about that. It was lucky that Luke had spotted the man, because Jade hadn't; the steam was obscuring his vision and without a visible target, his artes were liable to miss.
"Piers, up on the wall!" he called in warning. There was nothing else he could do but prepare another arte now -- ready to be cast once the enemy showed himself. Trying not to hit his comrades as well was going to be a problem.
TEAM BACKTHREAD o/!!!
The element of surprise already lost meant he could funnel more chakra into it, the distinctive chirp of visible chakra intensifying as he tipped off the top of the wall to run directly along the side of it, pushing off to drop smoothly into a strike at the man's torso. He kept his line of attack low, angled to avoid the sword, but an arm's length of proximity was all he really needed for the current to numb and confuse the nerves.
