Who: Riku and Natsuno
Where: Up in the Crow's Nest
When: Nov. 19
What: Natsuno is alone up there, on watch, Riku's had enough of his crap.
Warnings: Discussion of suicide, death, possibly other unpleasantries
Style: Prose
Status: Closed
It was a relatively peaceful night, all things considered. There wasn't much to keep watch with, but perhaps more that Natsuno couldn't sleep. Ever since his nightmare, he'd found himself having a bit of difficulty with his memories and while he might be able to keep them at bay at times, now when he's alone, it's too difficult.
The night was so calm out on the water, unlike what was going on internally. He found himself sighing a lot. After a little while he pulled out the stake which he had handy and balanced it on his fingers. If only he had the strength, he'd have done something about this already. He wasn't sure why people didn't understand why he needed to be eliminated. All of this camaraderie, the kinds of people who didn't expect anything out of him, he wasn't used to it. It had been too long, and the only person in town like them was Tohru. Tohru who never deserved to die in the first place, but maybe that wasn't all, maybe Shimizu annoying as she was, didn't deserve it either. If only the vampires had left their village alone, he wouldn't be in this predicament.
If he had realized when it was Tohru's turn, if only he had known he could have done something. He would have. It was with these thoughts that Natsuno was lost, staring out into the void.

"Go for it. You can hold it, if you want." He flipped the Keyblade around, holding out the handle. "Or try to, anyway."
no subject
"It's very different."
no subject
He sounds amused as he speaks, watching Natsuno feel out the Keyblade.
"Sora's got a whole bunch of Keychains to go with his. Some of them are really ridiculous."
no subject
"You don't have more?"
no subject
Riku absently runs his fingers over the blade part of the of the weapon, his gaze going distant for a moment.
"I'm not even sure if his will work on mine, we've never tried it. I can use his Keyblade, though."
no subject
Natsuno tilted his head a bit.
no subject
"Uh, no. No, different Keychains give it different powers. Some are stronger than others, some have more magic. Some just look stupid."
Riku grinned.
"Sora has one called...Divine Rose? And the key part of it..." His grin stretched a little further. "Literally a giant flower. It's bad enough we're running around hitting stuff with giant keys, but then it has to look like a big rose sometimes? Please."
no subject
That was pretty interesting actually.
"What's your dumbest looking one?"
no subject
"I don't...really have one. Like I said, Sora has way more than I do. He's the one who went adventuring in ten thousand different worlds. I was more or less tailing him for the past few months and trying to make sure he didn't know I was. But anyway, he saved the worlds, so. He got the Keychains.
I had Soul Eater for awhile... This one is called Way to the Dawn."
no subject
"I like it, it's interesting. I just don't know much about it." He didn't mean to hit a sore point. Natsuno tried to take it from him, just to feel how heavy it was.
no subject
Riku let Natsuno take it, not bothering to mention that it probably wouldn't stay in his grasp for long.
"A lot of people don't know much about it. Even I'm still learning."
no subject
"Oh!" His eyes widened, surprised.
no subject
"Like I said, you can try to hold it."

"Only certain people can wield them."

He trails off, tipping his head back for a moment. It's been a long time since he thought of that guy, the one who had shown up on their little island so many years ago. He'd never even told Sora about what had happened that day.
"You have to have a strong heart. That's why Sora has the Keyblade he has. My heart was being taken over by Darkness, so it chose him."
no subject
"I'm not sure what makes a strong heart."
no subject
"It's been through a lot, I guess." He sighed. "Even now, I'm not sure what makes a strong heart, either."
no subject
no subject
"Yeah... It'd better stay that way, too. I need one to wield a Keyblade, and I need that to protect my friends."
no subject
"I'm not sure what I think about this place. Then again, I suppose my view of the supernatural has changed so drastically in these past few months, I can believe almost anything. Even if it hurts my head."
