[Not long before the Navy arrives in person, Vyse can be found wandering around town. He looks a bit different than normal, having detached the bottom parts of his sleeves and removed his eyepatch in an effort to make himself look a little less...piratey.

Not that it helps too much when he's stealing at least half of the items he's buying from the shops. An unused candle or two here, a few interesting-looking metal objects there.]

[Ace made little noise as he followed Vyse with a can of beans and a spoon, watching what his crewmate had been interested in taking from the city. His own wares hadn't been much, but he had definitely stowed away a ton of the canned food he found. Food in cans hadn't been new to him, but it was such a commodity that he was still amazed all the same. Not having to salt it to keep it fresh made food better, he thought.]

Ah. I forgot. You should tell me if you see any snail transponders. [He said, his mouth full of beans.]

[Food in cans is something Vyse is mostly unfamiliar with. Metal trash cans and cans of oil, yes, but he's far more used to seeing food that's either fresh or contained in barrels or crates of some sort. With the exception of drinks, they usually come in bottles.

He hadn't noticed Ace following him until he spoke up, startling Vyse.]

H-huh? Uh...hi cap'n, where'd you come from?

[Also eying your can of beans curiously.]

Tell you if I see what?

[hiken]

[Slosh slosh went the beans. Ace's eyes sort of rolled to the sky in deep thought. That's where his thoughts were--up in the clouds where he couldn't reach them.]

Well, snail transponders. Maybe you guys don't use 'em? They can be used for long and short-wave communication.

[Ace added another spoonful of beans to his mouth, continuing.]

...And, they're actual snails.

[vysecaptain]

[And this is why Vyse secretly thinks his captain is completely nuts sometimes.]

Never heard of 'em.

[His world has just barely mastered short-distance radio broadcasts.]

What do they look like?

Snails. [Ace blinked slowly, not realizing that it could have been less obvious.]

Well, snails whose shells open up and transponders come out.
