The Navy will immediately know the moment the crew reaches shore, so within three or four hours, they'll have a half dozen ships geared. Halfway through the day, those ships will close in on the island. Towards the early afternoon, the soldiers will start hunting down the Spade Pirates.]

[Directs and points which way to go.] Left flank, right flank, straight ahead. We'll try to send them scattering, don't separate from your divisions, got it?
[Feel free to completely ignore these directions, most of the Whitebeard pirates always did and Ace was the worst of them about it.]

They picked a weird place for an ambush. With those wide streets, we'll see them coming from a hundred different places.

[And, because obviously, he wants to make sure he's the last one back on the ship.]

And Ace? I'll be there so if you screw up I'll kick your ass. [From Captain to rookie in ten seconds flat, feels nice, right Ace?]

[What's that about divisions? Ikki doesn't know what that is.]

[But he kind of agrees with you there.]

[Certainly he's not underestimating them, but he doubts that they are truly prepared to fight them as efficiently as they could. Chances are they are just mildly prepared or maybe just thinking that they are going to face normal pirates, not guys made of fire, guys who can heal themselves, and what not.]

He can be found poking through shops, carrying with what essentially appears to be junk that he's collecting. Beads, glass, jewelry, and other assorted odds and ends.
As the day wears on, he's pretty oblivious to the possibility of an ambush, but then...he hasn't really got the look of a pirate, now does he?

Regarding the Doctor with a grin, he knew to stay out of the way.
"So, what're you workin' on today?"
no subject
"Today? Well...I'm working on making a time anomaly detector. It's not perfect but it'll go ding if there's something weird going on with time."
no subject
"I found a bunch of things," He started, looking over what he dumped on the table. "Anything good?"
no subject
"Well, yeah. These little metal chains, they're great. Always useful, little chains. And spoons. Oh spoons are good. And so are these little glass beads. You can never have too many of these."

He shrugged, figuring his New-World Log Pose would be a suitable sort of answer.
"That's a log pose made for the New World. It's set to distinguish between a ton of different magnetic fields all at once and discern the intensity of strength in them so you can navigate on the Grand Line," He repeated it verbatim, though it wasn't a textbook line-read. Ace knew exactly how the Pose worked and how it best functioned. He didn't need to carry it either, but it didn't hurt. He checked it everywhere they went, to see if it would be useful.
"Stuff like this is normal, where I come from," He continued, eyes focusing on the needles. "If a friend comes back to life, that's weirder than normal, but still. If I question everything, I'll use up all my good words for when they really matter."

Not that it helps too much when he's stealing at least half of the items he's buying from the shops. An unused candle or two here, a few interesting-looking metal objects there.]

Ah. I forgot. You should tell me if you see any snail transponders. [He said, his mouth full of beans.]

He hadn't noticed Ace following him until he spoke up, startling Vyse.]
H-huh? Uh...hi cap'n, where'd you come from?
[Also eying your can of beans curiously.]
Tell you if I see what?
no subject
Well, snail transponders. Maybe you guys don't use 'em? They can be used for long and short-wave communication.
[Ace added another spoonful of beans to his mouth, continuing.]
...And, they're actual snails.
no subject
Never heard of 'em.
[His world has just barely mastered short-distance radio broadcasts.]
What do they look like?
no subject
Well, snails whose shells open up and transponders come out.
