[He may have a bit of a point about that. No matter how much the boat rocks, Motochika stands as firm as a man on solid ground. He's clearly no stranger to this sort of life.]

It's not something everyone takes to right away. I've seen men sick for a week before they manage to get their bearings.

[Ragna eyes him up and down for a moment. You won't hear him say that, but it is pretty impressive.]

... I think I'm good.

[Save for those... six or seven times he almost fell flat on his face? Yeah. But that's not something Motochika needs to know.]

[As Ragna sizes him up, Motochika can feel Pi-chan start to puff up and before he give a proper answer, the parrot lets out a loud squawk and flaps his wings angrily. It takes Motochika's firm hand and sharp glare to keep him on place on his shoulder.]

Steady, Pi-chan. My apologies, Ragna, but I fear he'll be like this around you for a while until I get him sorted out. He's a good bird, but birds don't quite have the wits you or I do.

[Ragna doesn't appear either surprised or bothered by the bird's reaction to him; he's actually used to pets (and people, for that matter) not liking him at this point. Heck, he even finds squawking a huge improvement over being insulted by Rachel's familiars all the time.]

... So, what's your mascot's problem?

You remind him of one of his least favorite people. He left the crew not so long before you signed on, so you can't blame the little fellow for being a bit confused. I'm sure as long as you treat him right and don't threaten to eat him, he'll warm up to you soon enough.

[He scratches under the parrot's chin, which seems to calm the bird down a little more.]

Whenever Sakamoto chooses to stop drinking himself into oblivion, he'll probably be confused for the same reasons. [The same reasons being "you look and sound like Gintoki and Sakamoto has the IQ of a parrot.]

[Ironic. Usually it's the other way round -- Ragna trying to convince other people that no, he's not the guy from the wanted posters, now leave him the fuck alone. And now some goddamn birdbrain is making all this fuss because it got the wrong guy? This day is off to a great effing start.

... He might have checked a mental list of recipes that could work with a parrot, but he'll keep that to himself for now.]

Aah? That's its problem?

[The Grim Reaper lets out a snarl. He doesn't give a shit about people currently on board, much less ones that are no longer here. Whoever that guy is, it's got nothing to do with him and he wants it to stay that way.

... And whoever the hell this Sakamoto guy is, Ragna supposes that if he's so busy getting drunk, he might end up confused for more reasons that apparent similarity between the former and new crew mates.]

Can't say as I blame him, truly. Gintoki was an ass and I admit I wasn't quite fond of him myself.

[As soon as he says the name, Pi-chan squawks again.]

See? Pi-chan, this is Ragna. Ragna. He's a new to our crew, so treat him well and don't bite him, you hear?

[The parrot is still giving Ragna the stink eye, but he offers a sullen little "Motochika!" and nips his master on the ear in what apparently is a sign of affection from the way Motochika beams to receive it.]

[That's it. He's fucking done with this shit. He got himself on the ship where the captain talks to his parrot like it's a full-fledged (pun not intended) member of the crew.

If there was a god, he'd spare Ragna the humiliation of this trip and take him now.]

... Right.

[He'll... tell himself it's one of those things pirates do and try not to think about it anymore. Subject change could do him well.]

Where is this-- ["Pile of rotten timber", he wants to say, but thankfully stops himself just in time -- the guy's letting him on board, after all, so he might as well attempt the civil route.] --ship heading to, anyway?

Cross suggested we find somewhere to get some research done, so we're sailing south to Manila. It's famous for it's library, so hopefully that will keep him busy for a while. After that, the whole southern sea is ours to explore.

[He crosses his arms and frowns slightly.]

It's not exactly treasure hunting, but surely a library has something worth taking...

[As much as Ragna's tone isn't anywhere close to friendly even during normal conversations, the way he stresses that one word with voice full of resentment may seem kinda out of place, given the topic.]

As in, a place with books and shit, right?

[The question is pointless by now, seeing as he's already encountered this world's "Navy" and not a single person affiliated with the NOL, but forewarned is forearmed and all that crap.]

What else would a library be? [Motochika is confused.]

I've heard there's not much else on the island but the library, but I'm sure I could have Xun Yu set you some tasks around the ship if you aren't interested.

Nothing. Just making sure. [Which is a blatant lie, but he doesn't feel like explaining the meaning and purposes of an organization that's only relevant to his own world anyway.]

No thanks. [He's not babysitting your turkey, Motochika. Not now, not ever.] I'll check it out.

[... Truth is, he just wouldn't let the chance to stand firmly on the ground slip by.]

Well, suit yourself. [Motochika shrugs.]

I don't have much interest in it myself, unless I can dig up some interesting blueprints to study. I'm not really the library sort.

[Fair enough.

Ragna leans back against the side of the ship (not because he feels like he might lose the balance again, nope), letting out a sigh.]

I don't think there's anything interesting to find there anyway.

[He figures other people would've found it by now, after all.]

Perhaps not, but it can't hurt to make stop on the way south. I've sailed the waters west of Isla Empieza, but never to the south, so it will be new to all of us. There's a crew docked at an island south of Manila that we'll likely have to meet up with eventually, but I'm in no hurry for that.

[Not in a hurry for that to happen ever.]

Of course, if you find somewhere you wish to go, you've only to tell me and I'll consider it.

[Ragna raises his eyebrow a little at the comment about some other crew, but hey, he knows he isn't in a hurry for meeting anyone, period. So he's not really gonna argue that.]

... I'll keep that in mind.

[Truth is, the only place he wants to go to right now is Ikaruga, but that's out of question for obvious reasons.]

[Motochika claps him on the shoulder.]

[All in all, he's FAR to cheerful as he walks off with a big, stupid grin on his face, leaving Ragna to his thoughts.]
