Well to begin with, 'hello' is based on when you are saying it. It's different in the morning, afternoon and evening. We can start there.
[Natsuno cycles through all three, speaking slowly.]

*Selphie nods, and listens very carefully, narrowing her eyes in concentration. Then she repeats the words, just like Natsuno said them. The first one is easy, but she has a little more difficulty getting the accent right for the last one. Mostly though, she seems to get the hang of it quickly*
How's that?
no subject
Close to perfect, so it's good Selphie. It's an easy enough language, at least I think so, there's only so many characters and sounds. Speaking is much easier than writing or reading.
no subject
Yay! Good! Think I'll stick to just speaking it for now. Are there other people on the ship that are Japanese? I can practise it with them too!

*Cause she'll totally start practising on her journal if she has to*
no subject
[He nods a bit.]
There might be, I can't say I paid too much attention.
no subject
*She giggles a little and nods back at him*
Well, I'm sure we'll find out eventually.
no subject
[He shrugs a little bit.]
no subject
Well, hopefully you don't really have to worry about that here!

[He sighs a little bit.]
As for the holiday, it's a romantic thing, Christmas Eve. Christmas day we don't do much, just have chicken for dinner.
no subject
*She raises a brow at that, leaning forward for a moment only to take a small sip of rum*
Christmas Eve is romantic in Japan? You mean, like Valentine's Day?
no subject
Christmas Eve though, is more about a time for confessing to someone, going on a date and exchanging gifts with someone you like.
no subject
*She thinks about this for a moment before giving Natsuno a quick wink*
So - whatcha getting Riku?
*Yup, blunt as to the point as you like*
no subject
What? Riku, ah, well, nothing...
[Not entirely true, but Selphie doesn't need to know that. He's not really sure he's going to give anything to Riku.]
no subject
Really? Well, good job Riku isn't Japanese cause otherwise I bet he'd be expecting something from you. But don't worry, I won't tell him that you haven't got him a special Christmas Eve gift.
no subject
[Natsuno exhales and looks away.]
Anyway, you shouldn't talk to Riku about me at all.
no subject
Huh? Why not?
*Because they've already talked about him plenty*
no subject
[He shrugs a little. Selphie talking about them as if they were a couple would defeat the purpose of Riku asking for discretion on their parts.]
no subject
*She didn't want to go messing around where she didn't need to. She was a tease, and a matchmaker at heart, but she wasn't intrusive, at least not in a bad way*
no subject
no subject
*She smiles at him then, hoping that he doesn't think she's being rude or anything*
no subject
I don't know, it's complicated. Forget I said anything.
no subject
*She gives a gentle, encouraging smile*
Everything okay?
